When i go to look at signature events it shows no events when just recently there were some scheduled, like Doug Moench.

They permanently laid off the guy running the signings with no plan in place. That's what happened....

They laid off Matt? I thought CGC was the only company laying off employees. Anyone know why? Is CBCS experiencing a reduction in submissions? I was getting ready to send in some books for the Moench signing. This sucks! 😒

I wonder when they are gonna contact me about the books I sent in and have been received to get signed/graded. I thought they would least finish the signings they had scheduled and maybe take time to figure out what to do next

Yeah The big problem was signature event signings went directly to Matt. He would get all the books get them signed and then ship them to Texas.

I hate that he was let go! I always enjoyed talking and working with Matt. He was the glue that held the witness program together at shows. I will definitely miss him.

Yep. Before they pulled them off the site altogether they had listed the Texas address but Matt's email for questions. Matt was a great guy (I've had dinner/drinks with him after shows before) and he'll be missed.

The Moench signing is still on. Read the email for the signing. You have to send the books to CBCS (like you would for regular submissions). Someone else other than Matt (said person has not been identified yet)will be handling the signing.

Chance in customer service department confirmed this yesterday.
Chance will need some "No Doze" now that Cynthia has been transferred to the Beckett side of the wall.
Hang is there Chance...

I'd make sure that the signing is still on before you send anything in (if you haven't yet). A lot of the people that there was private signings were ones Mat set up, and were only doing them with CBCS because Matt had a relationship with the artist and/or reps. I think that is the case with Moench (as well as with Andy Lanning and Dave Gibbons).

Either I missed the address as Plano,TX or they changed it:

If they changed it, they forgot to change this:

I'm gong to send my books in to see what happens.

If the signings are no longer on the signature events page, these signings are no longer taking place. If there has been any communication in opposition to this in the past, that communication is no longer accurate.

For anyone who has already sent in books for related signings, they should be receiving direct communication soon.

I wouldn't send them in...and yeah they forgot to change that. I got a laugh out of it since Matt had been laid off before that email was sent.

Finally someone with CBCS stepping up and telling what was up with the signings.

Just an update on book i sent in for Doug Moench signing. I didn't receive any direct communication other notification comic being sent back. Got my book back with a letter with telling my money was refunded and a credit for future order.

I do wish i was contacted to ask if i still wanted it graded since they had the comic but I am fine with getting a credit for future order. Just giving a heads up to anyone else who may of sent books in for signings as well.

Matt has a TON of friends that are major creators. I doubt that many of them will be doing any signings for CBCS.

I don't have any idea why they let Matt go but I will say this:

Every dealing I had with Matt was beyond professional. He went above and beyond to help me. When I was at HeroesCon I talked to him about DragonCon. I live near Atlanta and I have a Tales of Teen Titans #44 signed by George Perez. I wanted to get Marv Wolfman to sign the book. He told me CBCS would not be at DragonCon but he offered to take the book to Baltimore to get Marv to sign it. He told me to send it to him when it was closer to the Con and he would get it signed for me. Unfortunately Marv canceled all appearances after SDCC and I couldn't get it signed. That's what a true professional would do!

Gonna miss you Matt!

That's unfortunate to hear. Matt and his team were wonderful to work with in Baltimore for some books I was handling with them. I hope CBCS gets back on it to maximize their opportunity to take away some more business from the other guys, and especially before PSA enters the mix.
