| Thereās the re:CGCMike thread and a separate thread with a petition started by .5 , to rehire CGCMike, on CGCās comics general forum. I agree with the .5ās idea behind his petition but I would be very surprised if it is successful. I would go so far to say that the betting odds on his petition yielding the desired result are as favorable as winning a $100 million lottery with a $5 scratch off ticket. My impression is that CGCMike was canned to eliminate the go between between submitters posting complaints on the CGC forums about the CGC ābendgateā issue, among other issues. From posts made by former and active CGC employees culled from a few pages linked here, the takeaway seems to be that the Blackrock buyout was when the ball was put in motionā¦.and the mass hidings and firings (layoffs) began shortly thereafter. But that is just normal operating procedures for firms like Blackrock after buying out companies. What really put a new trajectory on this ball is the CGC lawsuit against the 2 fired CGC employee who weāre switching out books. That court case would make an impact on Blackrockās CGC micromanagementā¦.the straw that broke the camelās back wasnāt that case not the bend gate, it is the combination of the two along with the recently clear as day illegitimate 25 book submission that yielded 12 9.9ās. This would be seen as a big negative stain on CGCās standing in the graded comic and collectibles market. I donāt think CGC/Blackrock micromanaging head(s) are too concerned about competition from CBCS, but they do have to consider that they will have a new competitor in the market within a matter of months. That competitor being PSA, and if SA graded books perform well in Heritage , ComicConnect and ComicLink, it is pretty clear to see the motivation for whomever oversees CGCās operations at Blackrock. *As Patel would be unable to admit that CGC employees pulled off a scam like this, the choice was made to declare the 12 9.9ās legitimate. From whomever micromanages CGC, it is reasonable to assume that Patel is just following orders he receives on how to operate CGC. From that perspective, having someone like CGCMike in a position where he is effectively seen as responsible to relay information to CGC, it would be better for CGC to just scrub that position off their boards. | Not shocked at job losses from a purchase by an equity firm..that's kind of what they do...cut to the bone to maximize profit. The good equity firms pair that with upgrades in processes or equipment to improve productivity. Usually with that there is training, documentation of process etc. - if you survive the downsize then it can be a decent place...with hopefully growth on the horizon and rather than just panic hire to "get stuff done" you hire what is needed to do it right!!! Not sure what "growth" looks like in the comic grading game....kind of by definition the pool of books "needing" grading goes down with every book graded - at least for non-modern |
