Are These Books Worth Slabbing?21294

I don't believe this....and I know you don't care that I don't believe this. GAC private msg quote post Address this user
Most of my collection has now been slabbed. I still have a box and a half (short box) of books that I'm on the fence about pressing & slabbing. I'm on the fence because I'm not sure if it makes financial sense to get them pressed & slabbed.

I know condition is very important so just to make things easier, I'll say these books are 8.0 or higher.....some will definitely be higher (in the mid 9s) others might be a little lower.

I'm not asking you to grade these books (but if you want to, please do), I'm just asking, out of these books...in an 8.0 or higher.....would you press & slab?

From a cost/value perspective: Would you press and slab?

Any insights you provide are appreciated.

I’ve recently owned or still own 6 of those books. I only submitted my Inhumans #1 and Man-Thing #1 for grading (the Inhumans received a 9.6 and I sold it). I have not yet submitted my Conans, Son of Satan, or Planet of the Apes books, but have thought about doing so. Just too many other books ahead of them right now. Not sure if that helps, but without doing any research, I would probably consider the Man-Thing and the Cat.

@esaravo Thanks Ed! That does help.

Depending on the year of the book...press/grade will cost $39 and/or $65 per book + Shipping to and from so tack on another $20 per book...so $59 and/or $85.

It's a tough call.

I do love that Man-Thing cover...that's a book that could could back a 7.5 but great cover....might send it in just for that.

@GAC they look as good or better than some of the cgc 9.8's we've seen.
Except for the Secret Six & Planet of the Apes, I believe it would be worth getting the rest done.
Nice books.

@Nearmint67 I appreciate that!

I may have to put some of these in the CBCS pile.

Thanks for your insight!!

Whenever you have a monkey riding a horse, I'm in. Tom74152 private msg quote post Address this user
I slabbed Planet of the Apes #1 (monkeys riding horses). 10 years ago I let my nephew go through my comics and pick some, he was about 12. He picked Son of Satan #1 and I wouldn’t let him take it. I told him his mom would kill me. I had it slabbed and a note on it that it goes to him.

Press and grade them all. You never know what might become popular. You can't usually go wrong with Bronze Age books.

Cool...I feel more confident choosing from this selection of books to press n' slab.

Thanks everyone!

IT LOOKS LIKE A RUSTY TOP STAPLE. IF SO, DON'T WAST YOUR MONEY.

I'M 50/50 ON THIS ONE.

NOOOOOO!!!!

I WOULD NOT. UP TO YOU.

EH, I WOULD NOT.

NOOOOOOOO!

I WOULD NOT.

DEPENDING ON THE BACK COVER. WHY NOT...

TOO MANY COLOR BREAKS. NO!

DECENT SHOT AT A GOOD GRADE.

All also depends on defects on back covers.
Next time show back covers and no bags because of glare.
Save your money and buy more comics you like; you can always grade later. 👍
IMHO.

Many years ago, collectors/sellers said the same thing about Western photo covers and easy to find mid-grade Fawcett etc....
Heck, most collectors don't know who trigger was, let alone Roy. 😉
