All scans were done using my ancient HP Scanjet 8300 using VueScan software (it won't work any other way).

Anyway, I obviously didn't get them back before Christmas, but it's before Valentine's Day!

Looking at my grade predictions, I thought before pressing the X-Men #121's were 9.0 and 9.2, and the X-Men #130 was a 9.2. I figured after pressing the lowest grade would be a 9.2. I was wrong. According to the grader's notes for #130, there are "light fingerprints/soiling left back cover" that I totally missed (and still can't really see). That bumped the grade down a bit, and the pressing didn't seem to affect the grades of the other two books at all. Maybe I was too optimistic.

I don't like the waviness of the inner well on that last scan. Any comments CBCS reps?

The other 4 books will be coming up in a few minutes.

I had predicted pre-pressing grades of 9.4 for both X-Men #134 and #141, and had the last two books at 9.6. I had hoped that the pressing would produce at least one 9.8 from this bunch. Yes, it did, so in this case it appears that the pressing was worth it for at least 3, and possibly all 4 of these books.

Several of these books will be available for trade (if anyone is interested I would be looking for graded ASM, X-Men, and SA Adventure Comics).

I'd like to say I still turned out alright, but that would be a lie. flanders private msg quote post Address this user
@esaravo did you look online for grades or wait for the unboxing?

Also, all these posts about grades being lower than expected even after pressing has me worried my CGC regrade by CBCS might not have been worth the risk.

@flanders - I waited a few days, but when it wasn’t delivered on Monday per the original delivery date, I looked.

My only book submitted under SPOOKY24 hit grading the other day. Fingers crossed. 🤞

@esaravo Great books Ed!

I felt the same that the grades I got back were lower than expected and the Pressing didn't really help.

I've had books pressed that didn't change the grade, but it definitely made the books look better.

Pressing is such a nominal fee in the grand scheme of things (especially with a discount code) that I would never have a book destined for grading not pressed.

@DrWatson - I don't see on the app where you can track the location of the FedEx truck.

To the right of the line that says out for delivery is an upside down teardrop with a dot in it. Once you delivery falls within the estimated delivery time, you can click on the teardrop and find the delivery van's location.
