After two weeks in “Heat Seal” hell, my books went from “Encapsulation” to “Shipping” today! Hopefully they will get shipped out by tomorrow (so I can peak at the grades).

Not all non-color breaking creases can be pressed out, apparently. I have been told that by a couple of pressers. I have a NCB on the back of my X-Men 48 and thought the same thing as you. I was going to ask Ricketts about it, but never did. |

Since Saturday, FedEx has said that they would deliver my books today. All day their app has said it would be delivered between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. Because a signature is required, I have been held hostage in my house all day. It’s now almost 8:00 PM, and no package, and when I check the FedEx app it says “We’ll add a delivery date when your package starts moving.” Why did it say it would be delivered today? Great, now I get to do this all over again tomorrow.

Yep, I've had that happen more than once. Are you close to a drop off point? I had one of mine delivered to a Dollar General store. I won't do that again. Get the FedEx app and you can stalk the delivery van with gps. |

@GAC That ballpoint pen on the spine. I wouldn't even call that restoration. Other color breaking areas weren't colored in. I call that that pen ink on cover and grade it accordingly. I might even take an exacto knife and remove it.

FedEx sucks! Still no package. Their app said it would be delivered today between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM. That time has passed, so it now says before the end of the day. Complete BS. This is why I use USPS 95% of the time.

The package finally arrived! I am going to scan the slabs now and then post them here shortly. I must say that the packaging by CBCS's shipping department was top notch. @DrWatson - I don't see on the app where you can track the location of the FedEx truck. |

First, here's my original post with the raw books: Quote: Originally Posted by esaravo |

All scans were done using my ancient HP Scanjet 8300 using VueScan software (it won't work any other way). Anyway, I obviously didn't get them back before Christmas, but it's before Valentine's Day! Looking at my grade predictions, I thought before pressing the X-Men #121's were 9.0 and 9.2, and the X-Men #130 was a 9.2. I figured after pressing the lowest grade would be a 9.2. I was wrong. According to the grader's notes for #130, there are "light fingerprints/soiling left back cover" that I totally missed (and still can't really see). That bumped the grade down a bit, and the pressing didn't seem to affect the grades of the other two books at all. Maybe I was too optimistic. I don't like the waviness of the inner well on that last scan. Any comments CBCS reps? The other 4 books will be coming up in a few minutes. |

I had predicted pre-pressing grades of 9.4 for both X-Men #134 and #141, and had the last two books at 9.6. I had hoped that the pressing would produce at least one 9.8 from this bunch. Yes, it did, so in this case it appears that the pressing was worth it for at least 3, and possibly all 4 of these books. Several of these books will be available for trade (if anyone is interested I would be looking for graded ASM, X-Men, and SA Adventure Comics). |
