Recently, I made a couple of signed comic purchases from different ebay sellers in which only one so far turned out to be a scam (see seller, collects4fun506), and the others not (or they came with legit COA's), and I wanted to share a unique signed comic by Bob Kane that I got from who I think to be a legit and sincere seller. Here is their link, they seem to be a true fan of Batman and they have many kinds of batman memorabilia and a couple of signed things, has anyone heard anything negative about this guy? https://www.ebay.com/usr/batbeatstarmon I recently submitted the comic I got for an autograph review on Becketts site and am waiting on that. If all comes back good, I am definitely sending this to CBCS to be slabbed. In the meantime, I also wanted to share on here with you guys to get your personal opinions on this one. Batman is my all time favorite comic character so it's very important to me that this is legit. Nothing really screams fake and it doesn't seem to have any trace marks and it matches very closely with other sketches and signatures of Kane. Thanks, everyone! Looking forward to your thoughts! |

It’s really a shame the unscrupulous people out there. Disgusting. I’m no expert but I think it’s genuine and hope it is for you a great result

On the flip side .. just my opinion... because something that is troubling... if any seller is selling a book claiming it has a legit signature, in this case a Bob Kane signature, without any sort of documentation, why not spend the couple of bucks to get it authenticated???? As a seller you would have Beckett's confirmation that it's legit and be able to sell it raw and have justification for a high sell price... Again just my opinion... either way Good Luck!!! |

I will never understand why people who claim to have a real signature can't even do a simple BAS Sig review check or get a paper certificate from PSA/BAS. Usually it's either they're: A) A scammer B) A Legit seller who just collected for personal reasons and not for value, and decided to get rid of their stuff. C) A boomer or newbie that doesn't use or understand grading services or doesn't wanna spend the money because they don't think its financially beneficial. thanks for your thoughts! |

I have a Bob Kane sketch. I'm no handwriting expert, but it looks like the pen travelled the opposite direction on both our first "B" and the "O". I don't know how his signature may have changed over time, but it seems like that could be a big issue. |

I bought this copy of “Batman and Me” from the Warner Brother’s Catalog (advertised on the Batman VHS)as signed by Bob Kane. I’ve always assumed authentic, but also know Kane could be a real film flam man when he wanted. |

As far as the legitimacy of autograph authentication from any grading company, it is really nothing past a guy comparing signature samples from a person using samples from the approximate same time period. Inks are examined to confirm oxidation and overall aging. There is of course merit to both these processes but that doesn’t mean that an sig could not have been forged on a a book decades ago, by a competent signature forget. One can point to the massive amount of books signed by Roz Kirby as”Jack Kirby” in the early 90’s, sold thru Dynamic Forces, as an example of how this can be done. |

A gamble, by definition, is a risk. And you will lose more gambles than you ever win. If something is a great deal, it’s not going to go unnoticed on eBay or other sites. It will get snapped up quickly. So always be wary of anything that looks too good to be true and has been posted for more than a few hours.

Bob Kane & Jack Kirby & Stan are the most plagiarized signatures in all comic-dom. I would tread real real real real lightly with random signed books from any of them. The same books get circulated over and over and over until the next poor buyer is stuck with the duck. If you're looking for Bob Kane, and as someone showed in this thread; there is the Batman and Me Hardcover with a Batman sketch. They are more limited than the signed edition; but they are authorized by the publisher. Even then (ala Dynamic Forces); publishers are suspect, but it's about the best you can do. Be prepared to pay pretty penny for that Batman & Me edition with sketch though |

For comparison...my guess as to why it wouldn't pass would be. Double blotch at bottom of the B shows hesitation during signature Loop on the bottom of the K The slight hesitation and uptick on the end of the E The O makes the signature look to be rushed, but the indicators above give the opposite impression. |

I’m going to bring in to Beckett locally in Vegas and have them do a full authentication. I truly believe this seller is legit even from watching his YouTube channel. I will let you guys know how it goes in the next few weeks because I’m gonna do it express.

Nothing in the listing indicates that this is a legit signature. It's definitely signed Bob Kane, but most likely not THE Bob Kane. If you can return the book then do it. You're trying hard to make this a legit signature in your mind, but there are too many red flags.
