Just got my Dazzler #1 2024. I began trying to read it and I couldnt help but wonder why some word bubbles were being cut off. Its not until i looked at it again it seems I have a manufacturing error. I was hoping if someone could help answer some questions. Does this defect have a specific name? Would CBCS grade it harsher? Would CBCS add thendefect on the label? Where all Dazzler #1 foil var affected? |

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I wanted to applaud your correct choice for the word "affected". People have a 50/50 chance of picking the right word, affect vs. effect, but somehow get it wrong 90% of the time. Cheers to you.

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. | xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
With the color stuff at the bottom, definitely looks like a miscut. I didn't get a foil edition so I don't know if it affected all of them, but my regular copy was fine.

I would say that you should try to find out how common this error is. If it’s uncommon, than have it slabbed. I would say have it quick pressed to lock in a 9.8, as well. Next step: SELL, MORTIMER, SELL! |

@TheShocker Story was fine. I'm sure you got the gist that Dazzler is going on tour but has to be careful because everyone hates mutants again (still).

Quote:Originally Posted by xkonk That is definitely a miscut, I only looked at the pics with the missing text in the speech bubbles. @theshocker , you should definitely have this book slabbed with a press beforehand. I would say that virtually any core title book from Marcel, DC or Inage is worth slabbing….all the moreso when there is more than one significant manufacturer error present. Manufacturer error collectors pay real money for these sorts of books, you would be surprised. But they have to be slabbed. One manufacturer error book I have is a Batman 457 000 error book that was manufactured with a single staple. It’s not the newsstand 000 error, but being an error book in two respects on a key book, it’s a home run IMO. Bought it thru ebay at $50 BIN around 3 years ago , the seller didn’t have it listed as only having a single staple but had it correctly labeled as a 000 error. I’ll sub it at some point, should have subbed it 2+ years ago but I collect manufacturers error books, and I have 100’s of other books in my pressing/slabbing que. Also have 3 copper books with much more severe miscuts than your Dazzler. Spectre issue that is miscut unevenly on all 3 sides, I pulled that out of a dollar or 2 dollar box at Frankenstein’s Comics in Woodbury maybe 8years ago. The other miscut is one of the issues from the 12 issue mini series by John Byrne retelling Spider Man’s origin. Had that book for years, I think it was in a long box of bulk comics, I used to buy bulk boxes for $20/long and sell them in 5 long box lots on ebay in the late 90’s, early 2000’s when you could get $250 to $500 for 5 long boxes of mixed titles of books you’d find in 50 cent or dollar boxes at cons. Ah, the golden age of ebay and cons. 🤣 |

You might want to print out the photos of the error pages, to keep with the comic. Once it's slabbed, no access.

I have a miss cut book that was cut in half I was at the shop when he pulled it out of the new comics for new comic day. He was going to send it back to get credit. I said I’ll take that. I haven’t got it graded yet didn’t know how they would handle it as far as a grade and an error. It’s cut in half long ways.

Once you post those pics up, tag Steve Ricketts, he’d likely be able to tell you. FWIW, I recall someone posting up a sold listing a couple years ago in the “Celebrate the manufacturing errors” thread on the CGC forums….a DC Universe logo variant of a Catwoman issue that was sold raw for around $500 on ebay. It wasn’t a harder to find DCU logo, would have been a $10 book if not for the error. |
