It's a humorous and depressing story that is not on par with the first one. I would not see it again.

I am not a fan of musicals so it was highly likely I wasn't going to watch this film. I would like to know how much of a musical the film is.

If you ask me it's "too much" of a musical, mostly because they're all Arthur's fantasies.

I really enjoyed it. My 18 yo old son, who is most definitely not the demographic, also really liked it. Bottom line… anyone who has a very specific view on what a comic book movie should be, will likely hate it. How musical is it? Pretty much a musical. 50/50 I’d guess. The music choices were what I’d loosely call standards - the supposed key demo won’t know many of them I’d guess, which really won’t help an already divisive film. If you liked the first movie, I’d recommend at least giving it a shot when it’s available to stream. |

My kid and his friends went to see it...so 16-17yr olds. He said 7/10...not as good as the first but still ok. No spoilers but he was disappointed on the Harley story.... At $15 a person plus treats I'll be waiting to stream this one |

![]() 'Joker 2' Bombs, Receives an Unprecedented D CinemaScore ►Not funny. Todd Phillips' sequel Joker: Folie à Deux bombed in its box office debut with an estimated domestic opening of $40m, well behind expectations after becoming the first Hollywood comic book movie in history to earn a D CinemaScore from audiences. Exit polls are equally grim as audiences express their unhappiness with the antihero-musical mashup, which did less than half of the business the first Joker did in its launch despite costing more than three times as much to make, or $190m. THR's Pamela McClintock writes that Joker 2 was expected to open to at least $50m to $60m, but projections were continually downgraded throughout the weekend as traffic stalled. Even on Saturday, most rival studios showed it opening to at least $45m to $47m. When the Warner Bros. movie first came on tracking three weeks ago, it was pacing to earn $70m. —"Is anyone out there laughing?" Judging by commentary on social media and YouTube, Joker 2 has really divided the DC fandom. For THR, Richard Newby asks for a moment's grace before judging the film too harshly, writing that Joker 2 may not be the punchline we deserve, "but Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix danced through a messy delivery to land on a pretty killer joke." —Hang in there, Todd! Joker 2's critical mauling and travails at the box office mirror the start that Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis faced, and the legendary filmmaker sent a message of comfort and support to Todd Phillips this weekend. Posting on Instagram, Coppola said Phillips’ films have always amazed him and provided enjoyment. He also suggested that moviegoers may not be ready for a film such as Joker: Folie à Deux. "Ever since the wonderful The Hangover, he’s always been one step ahead of the audience never doing what they expect." |

We saw the Joker origin story a few years ago. We saw the new Batman a few years ago. Why they did not include Batman in Joker 2 is beyond me! It seemed to be a perfect opportunity. Just my opinion - but the timing seemed to be ideal to transition this Joker into the Batman (Robert Patterson) movie series. |

The ending..........was a slap in the face IMO. Both undoes everything from the first movie and at the same time tries to tie into Nolan's universe? Was that the goal? It was just an exclamation mark on a really bad film. |

I will definitely watch it when it's streaming. I wasn't aware that it was a musical until I saw Lady Gaga's interview on Jimmy Kimmel. I generally don't watch musicals on purpose, but this is at least trying something different for a superhero-related movie. (Are there any Superheroes in it?) I like the actors, so I will keep an open mind and not prejudge. I haven't seen the first Joker. That's now on my todo list. As bonus content, A mini movie review: I found Madonna's Evita so maddeningly aggravating I stopped watching 10 minutes in. Otherwise, if I'd attempted to make it to the end, I probably would have been driven to murdering someone. The entire movie was singing with no talking whatsoever. I give it zero thumbs up out of five, and a firing squad for the producers. |

The first one was so depressing, and the reviews for this one so bad, that I figured I'd pass. I'll probably see Venom at the end of the month out of obligation but I don't have high hopes there, either.
