Bitter sweet finishing a run.

Finally picked up Copra #8 and Copra Versus #1 to complete my backlog

Finally received the Copra Press versions of the final issues of the Copra run besides #50 which is yet to release.

Had to pick up this cover:

I have been looking for a good copy of this at a bearable price for ages. Finally snagged this one for under 80 bucks, shipped from Italy. Very happy crossing it off the list.

I just bought one of these. There's something familiar about that hyena on the right. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Went out to a con in New Haven and picked about half a short box's worth of comics. A few highlights -

I also got the Maria Wolf Doom #1 variant but stashed it away as soon as I got home.

Were you expecting a break in targeting that specific issue?

bought a box full of star wars: unlimited tcg twilight of the republic tcg cards. hard to say how many (seen image) could be 400 cards. Plan on selling them. see what I got, if I got a complete set. sell as such. if I got a lot of multiples. sell them in small sets based on value (anywhere from 50 cents to $30 from what I can tell)

just to need to assess them.

Was hoping this one wasn’t a banana, but is slightly bananaed as expected. I got a good deal and the book does not seem to be in danger so no sour bananas about it.

A little lower grade than I’d like, but couldn’t argue with the price.

This was on my doorstep this morning.

Doom!

Fantastic Four #1 2018 Bill Sienkiewicz Variant Cover Signed. I asked the seller before bidding if it was a banana book. He was out of town, but from what he remembered, it was not. He was correct. No bananas today.

The art style reminds me of Stuart Sayger. Perhaps Sayger drew his inspiration from Sienkiewicz.

tales from the dollar bin - some cool finds!

First - A Peter David book I've always wanted to read and a cassette I've always wanted to own.

Was excited to find an ENTIRE WIZARD MAGAZINE in this pile, which by and large were thousands of early 90s Image, Comico, Eclipse, etc.

And Dark Horse!

Lobo #4

Not a great copy (again, dollar bin) but a fun read.

A Magic: The Gathering comic preview from 1995 - unfortunately, the card was not in there.

A World of Warcraft comic preview - wild to think the MMO is still going strong.

Some of you may be aware that I collect Star Wars sketch covers. I tend to be a little bit picky about the artists, because I ask them to do whatever they like with the characters. What I want is their interpretation, not mine.

I was at one of my local shops yesterday, talking to the owner (who I have been personal friends with for nearly 20 years), telling him I had finally found someone to do a Lando cover for me. He thought for a beat, walked over to a box, pulled this out and handed it to me. "I think you should have this."

A mutual friend, who was possibly the biggest Star Wars fan I knew, had commissioned this sketch from Meghan Hetrick the same year that he died. His family recently brought some of his collection to sell, nine years later. And so it came to me.

It's a silly little piece, but I can see the grin on his face again because of it.
