@Oldfuzznts not to jump in the middle or hopefully end of your rant. This is a new to your collection thread. Post stuff new to your collection and let other people enjoy/see it. Do we really need to have a page of bitching & moaning about not being happy with your grade after skipping the pressing in a submission? Maybe start a petty complaint thread. 🤷♂️ If you thought you had $300 book just spend the $15.00 to press and lock it up. You are criticizing CBCS on the CBCS forum and arguing with anyone that has a different thought than yourself. That seems like maybe you are on the wrong forum and again at least the wrong thread. Lighten up Francis. | ||

If you're exhibiting a pattern of grading the value out of something to encourage resubmissions to feed your add-on services, your very close to fraud. If I was talking to a Beckett employee who confirmed my suspicion, that's really bad. Be careful. |

@Oldfuzznts Hey numbnuts, I don’t work for CBCS and neither do some of the other people you try to argue with. Also my VSP holiday sale books above were not pressed on my submissions. You don’t have me for shit, fraud, or whatever goofy things pop in your head. Get your dumbazz into a crying or complaint thread. I already know I like CBCS better than other grading services. My book isn’t bent in the grading process, switched, & doesn’t rattle and get damage in the holder like other companies. Simply stick to the topic or post in threads about complaints or if you can’t find one then start one. It’s not that hard numbnuts. Don’t bother replying this time I am making you the first person I will block on this site. In case you can’t understand why, it’s because you bring nothing to the table for conversation. Just bitching & moaning, followed by more bitching & moaning. Apparently you don’t, but I get enough of that with work and life. I am not trying to be around that in my free time. Also thanks for proving me correct in all your posts above and I am sure below in this post. I just won’t see them anymore. For that, my day is already improving! |

I don't believe moderns are graded more harshly. I just think CBCS are a little more stricter when it comes to grading in the high grades. I sent in some books that I didn't get pressed to see how they would fair. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't believe CBCS went light grading my books. Look at the swamp thing 3 on the left hand side where there are two slight dents from staples resting on the book for 50 years in a stack. And look at @OGJackster Swamp Thing 3s from the same collection with the same defect and CGC graded it 9.8. There's a big price difference realized from 9.6 to 9.8 @OGJackster did you get your books pressed pror to grading? One to two defects that are minor are allowed in 9.8 grade so I don't believe the CGC 9.8s are off. I just think I got kinda slammed... I don't think I could get those two small defects pressed out though.... Here's a close up of what I mean. Anyway.... ![]() ![]() |

Worked out of town this week and I just got a chance to unpack my deliveries. Laugh #130 - Classic ‘Creature’ cover. I shared this upon winning it at auction, but it’s home! “Comic Book Men” one-shot - A comic based on the guy’s characters portrayed in the opening sequence from the reality show. Bonus: signed by Ming, Walt & Bryan. And lastly, another Spidey 2099 Toybiz figure with the 2nd print of #1. The indentations at the edges of the bubble are particularly deep on this one, sadly. Plus, this book has dropped drastically in value. But eventually, I’ll crack it out, press & grade the comic. ![]() |

I figured that if I'm going to spend my retirement money and time on getting a book graded, then I want to have it look the best as possible. That's why I decided that I will always get my books pressed if I send them in. Even these Mark Books ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Quote:Originally Posted by flanders Are CBCS stricter graders or has the cgc become so loose that CBCS is perceived to be stricter when in fact they are simply more accurate? Loose grading equals higher grades. Higher grades equal more money. That results in more money being spent on what's reflected on the label as opposed to the actual condition of the book. I suppose people can chose what to spend their money on whether I agree with it or not. There was a moment when I thought I had clicked on the cgc banana thread as opposed to the What's New to Your Collection thread. |

One more slot filled in the copper Uncanny X-Men run. I'm just an issue or three away.![]() I was surprised to see this come up for sale and CBCS graded as well. It is also a pedigree-ish copy from the personal collection of Mr. Magik Woo. I almost didn't buy it as the for sale scan made it look as though the top was miscut. It isn't. I was fortunate to be able to work out a deal with the seller. One more for the November 1971 set. ![]() |

Quote:Originally Posted by DrWatson If CGC is still anything like I was told years ago, their graders are still grading via a 'per quota' system. Meaning that the way they grade, slab, etc. is based on what numbers they have to meet. So while I had bought a few CBCS slip-ups in 2022, I can only guess that they would allow their graders to be accurate even if they have a high volume quota that needs to be met. |
