Picked this out of a dollar box at the last smaller con I was at, opinions on if this book would improve enough with a press to warrant doing it. This is more for curiosity sake than anything else. |

@Rbolton Square bound books are tricky to press. But this one would definitely benefit from a press. | ||

@Rbolton You will be amazed at what that book will look like when he is finished. Well worth the little bit of cash... |

It will press up to around a 6.5/7.0. This book will require a full book (standard) press, which means it needs spot pressing. $20 or so for a standard press, not including fast tracked pressing. It’s a $5 book as is, a press would make it a $10 book. Than there’s a grading fee, this book will not be worth the cost of pressing and grading- it’s not even worth the cost of pressing. I would suggest using another book that’s more valuable as a “pressing test”. |

You could do a press and raw grade if you didn't want it slabbed. It would be $27 versus $39. |

Not really concerned about the money, this truly would be just to enlighten me on the pressing process and what it could potentially do for a book in similar condition. The only other square bound I considered is another cheap pick up(around .25 cents a book) from a collection I bought, I just dont know if it would present enough of an increase for me to gauge what pressing could do. I understand these are not expensive books, but I have quite a few that are that I am considering for the clean press and grade, I’d just like to understand the process better first. The other I may use to test |

@HeinzDad did an amazing job on a book I bought from him. I’m not sure if he accepts books for pressing outside of his own needs, but he definitely deserves a shout out for his wizardry. |

As far as the GSD 1 in this thread is concerned, it’s a great example of a book that would get a massive bump from a dry clean & press. Tbh, as someone who has been pressing my own books for almost a decade, I still can’t understand how reputable pressers like yourself charge under $20 for the amount of time that is required to correct the flaws in a book like this. |
