Have I told you about the time I dropped off 3,000 comics at SDCC? | Scifinator private msg quote post Address this user | |
Several weeks ago, I mentioned that I would be running a series of classic Valiant Title liquidation auctions on a monthly basis on or near the beginning of each month through the winter. This month, the title(s) is Harbinger along with Harbinger Active Resistance Division Corps (otherwise known as HARD Corps)! As you probably know, all MCS auctions are NO Reserve with $1 Starting bids. I have about 3 dozen Harbinger related comics in this auction plus a few non-Valiant titles. With a very limited print run of only 3,000 - 3,500, first up for your bidding pleasure, we have: For additional details on this or any of my other auction listings, please feel free to click HERE for the direct link to my listings. Quote:Originally Posted by KatKomics Unless a book is super hot, most of the time it is better to run books via BIB/BO at reasonable prices than dive right into auction format. I can’t imagine that you will be able to cover grading & sig verification costs on each of these unless they get around $45 a piece in auction…minus $7 base commission fees per slab. If you don’t pull at least 160 for these 4 slabs, you will be in the red- not even accounting for what the books originally cost you. I’d suggest pulling the other books from this run and putting them up BIN/BO soon as this auction ends….kist post a thread on them here, bidders on these books would probably buy them at better prices than what they would end up at in auction. |

Quote:Originally Posted by PolarisNuclearSS2020 welll....probably?? taking a look at these 4 and the 2 I already sold through BIN/OBO I'm even maybe a bit ahead on fees books cost etc (books costs were basically nothing..well..cover so basically nothing). I have no desire to let books sit for months and months and since 4 qualified for the Prime auction in Oct I'm certain a few of those will get close to FMV which will put me well into the black in total for the series. Always knew these lower grade ones would be dogs, for the series to work for me I was hoping for about $20-$25 each for these 4..which they are doing...really as long as I break even on fees in total for the run I'm good - books are a sunk cost, really so are the fees now - a tiny profit is good enough for me and then have that $$ credit at MCS to apply to a future purchase lol...btw sigs were free!!...won't even count time, effort, convention pass and parking to get them as that was really all for the sketch (the only reason I was at the convention!)...the sigs were a bonus!! BUT - I will at least remove the 9.0 from the next auction!!..maybe the 9.2s from the one following that...I think the remaining 9.6s can stay and will perform well? |

Postmortem.. Really good actually! (1 even broke the $5 min charge!!) Was expecting around $20-$25 on these 4 coupled with 2 sold in a prior BIN/OBO situation to remain in the black -all exceeded that threashold Now - caveats - these books were processed during a promo period thereby reducing the total fees and total costs I "needed" to recover So far, so good... especially as these were the bottom of the barrel for these issues - all remainders are in the 9's so would hope for better results. Got a bit jittery and pulled the 9.0 and 9.2's and set them as BIN/OBO....but with these results for 7.5 and 8.0's I'll probably dump them back into auction format in the future and be done with them!!! |
