Weekly Cover Contest #418 Silver Age Sci-Fi21096

It gets old smelling it everytime I go outside my door. Nearmint67 private msg quote post Address this user
You vote three check marks for your FIRST favorite, Two check marks for the SECOND favorite, One check mark for the THIRD favorite. You do not need to vote for three covers, but it is strongly encouraged!!! However... DO NOT VOTE EARLY!!! (Read on...)

Let's have fun with this!

A new theme will be chosen each week, so participants must find a comic book that fits the theme.

- One entry per person.
- Must be real comic books in circulation.
- Magazine size books are also okay.
- The book does not have to be in your collection.
- Variants are acceptable.
- The previous winner is allowed to win in this contest.

Each week we will vote on who had the best cover.

- Friday begins the new contest.
- Voting begins Wednesday at 12 noon EST which is the cutoff for submissions.
- Voting ends Thursday at 11:59 PM EST.
- Please vote through the built-in "three check marks" system described above.
- Don't vote early!
- The winner will be the cover with the most check marks.
- Vote three check marks for a favorite, two for the second favorite and one for the third favorite.

The winner will choose the next theme and begin a new thread.

In the event of a tie, the deciding factor will be if the entry was of a book in a CBCS slab (only one book in the set needs to be graded; if multiple are CBCS graded then the highest grade applies). If both books are in a CBCS slab (or neither are) then the cover with the most three star votes wins. If they are still tied, then the one with the most 2 star votes wins. If the tie remains, then a sudden death contest will decide the winner. All tied contestants are to enter a new cover based upon the theme of that contest. At 9 pm EST, Friday, the cover with the most votes wins.

**Please No Early Voting**

One of my favorite genres is science fiction. And some of the best sci-fi came out in the silver age.
So post your favorite silver age sci-fi covers.

I always thought it should be after 1968 that ends the cut off, but what the hell do I know 🙄

American historians generally divide 20th-century American comics history chronologically into ages: Golden Age: 1938 (first appearance of Superman) to 1954 (introduction of the Comics Code) Silver Age: 1956 to early 1970s. Bronze Age: 1970s to 1986.

Unfortunately, Showcase 4, which heralds the birth of the Silver age along with FF 1 and 2, are 10 cent covers.

Plus, there are a few 15 cent X-Men books that belong to the Silver age. And the Bronze age Avengers go well into the 40 centers.

Just to name a few.

Oh yes...lots of different ways to categorize the different ages. I know my pricing post above is not how it's done.

Its hard to identify a common event that should trigger an age/era transition.

edit: I get Showcase 4...that was the birth of DC's old/new character designs (more or less I believe)....or FF1 the birth of the Marvel age.

Bronze age and copper age...not sure what events triggered those transitions.

A lot of the age changes are series dependent. Not every series flips at the same month or even year.
