@starlord No yet. Christopher will always be my image of Superman. He’s the one that I grew up with. His accident freaks me out since my wife and youngest go riding regularly. Did not know that Robin Williams and him were friends but Robin gave me a “nanu nanu” at a chance encounter in SF

Neat! I miss Robin Williams in film.

I get you about being nervous about horse riding. Before my accident an ex gf is/was a horse girl, she had 2 and for a time it was cool. Riding was fun, but the horse I regularly rode LOVED to run and if I didn't pay attention mid walk it'd just sprint. I stopped having fun shortly afterwards.

As far as disability of any kind, its sometimes random. Sure risky activities increase the likelihood of occurrence. For example, my ex wife was in the passenger seat and both of us wore our seatbelts the day of my paralysis. She walked away with a cut on her hand needing 3 small stitches.

When I was in physical rehabilitation, there was a lady in her 50's who is also paralyzed, she had a little more ability than me, but not by much. One morning she had went to open her back door to let out her 2 dogs. She called for them as she began turning around to make her way to the kitchen table when suddenly her dogs made her slip and fall on her back. After that, she couldn't move, turns out she cracked her C6 bone and damaged the spinal cord.

A generic, plain slip and fall forever changed her life.

Sorry to hear about the paralysis. A couple of years ago, my wife’s mentor and colleague was in a car accident and is like in Captain Pike paralysis. She can make out some words and maybe move a pinky now but it is going to take some time. Her mind is sharp as a whip, so she keeps active. She has an assistant and is technology-assisted to help with work and day-to-day. She really is amazing!

I live in an urban area and have been in 3 major accidents, and as a result, have several herniated disks. Typical OTC pain killers are vein openers or muscle relaxers and don’t work, because neck and spine injuries need electrical response reduction of the spinal cord or cortisone shots. Sometimes I have fallen on a sidewalk, not knowing how I blanked out. I have had CAT scans so I am fine, but it does slow me down.

I hear ya on losing fun riding. I am a noob so they always give me the older and/or neurotic horse. I remember DC. He hated other horses for some reason and would charge to mess with them, but I was still on his back. My wife still struggles with fast horses but she is getting better. If the horse is notoriously a sprinter and not behaving, the stable would switch horses for safety.

Life is different now. I was a lot more active but it gives me time to focus on other things like comic books and drawing again.

Easier said than done but hang in there!
