I have a question concerning what I see may be what were called Remainder copies I have in my collection in storage for over 40 years... I have a few of these silver age in FF and X-Men... I guess back in the day my LCS would clip off the corners or tear off a bit of the cover to ship back to the distributers for refunds of books not sold. Yes what you see in pencil is the actual price I paid for this book back in the late 70s as a poor high schooler. It was the cheapest way to get my run of FF (same for my X-Men run). My question is what kind of hit will the book get for a grade? It does need cleaning and a press.. Thx! |

@DoorCntyComicColl - Remainder copies usually have about 1/4 of the top cover ripped off. The retailers would tear off the logo portion of the comic’s cover, and return it to the distributor to receive a refund for unsold comics. They were supposed to dispose of those remaindered copies. However, many stores sold them for 5 cents each. True remaindered copies get a 0.5 grade. The book you show above is not a remaindered copy. The good news is that it will get a higher grade, possibly in the 2.0 to 2.5 range. |

Appreciate the feedback.. I am leaning more towards keeping it raw. The run I have is around the same grade (2.0 to 5.0 for other issues). Its a blast reading these old books, but once encapsulated that gets lost... | ||
