PEDIGREED... Again! martymann private msg quote post Address this user
As I am unable to reach anyone at Customer Service I am reaching out
through this forum.
On July 17th I sent a package of books for grading, on July 19th they
were delivered according to USPS tracking.
On July 25th they were marked "RETURN TO SENDER" and were processed.
As of today they are somewhere "IN TRANSIT".
My local Postmaster is trying to locate the package.
My question is "Why were they "RETURNED TO SENDER".
Hopefully they will turn up!

Marty

Hi Marty,

Typically, return to sender means the recipient declined to take possession of the package. Did you send the package to this address?

CBCS
2700 Summit Ave ste 100
Plano, TX 75074, USA

It's also possible that it had the correct address, but was delivered to the wrong address and the recipient marked it return to sender. I am forever getting other peoples mail in my mailbox. I mark it "Not Here" and place it back in the box.

That said, there's usually a typo or some damage to the original address.

I had a package marked Return to Sender because the recipient (some ding dong in California) never went to the post office to pick it up since it was a signature confirmation.

It was delivered to the correct address on July 19th and held until July 25th
and then returned.

Is it possible what you sent was something CBCS can't grade? oversized comics or underground comics?

Very strange....mailed to the right address....contents is something cbcs grades...it seems they had the package in their possession for 6 days...then the package was marked Return To Sender.....Customer Service or Wade or Steve will need to get involved.

If the box was never opened, then how could it be in the system to check?

Plus, just because it's marked delivered by the USPS doesn't mean it was delivered to the correct address.

I was thinking possibly CBCS openned the box and discovered books they could not grade....sealed the box and sent it back but Marty sent GA books so that can't be it.

You are right about delivery status doesn't mean it was delivered to the correct address even if the correct address was written on the box.

Just curious, IF this is what happened , how would CBCS know what was inside the box unless they opened it? And then the USPS would not take a return to sender box that was already opened.

I'm not too sure how the Return To Sender works....but your question is valid. I guess the Return To Sender has a very short window to execute....only at the point of delivery I guess?

So, you're right....CBCS could not know what was inside.

The other option would be, the box was understamped? Not enough postage so the postman said “hey CBCs, postage is due here” and they said “nope, rts”…

I believe it was established in another thread that the books were mailed to the old address by mistake.

I see @GAC asked if they were sent to Summit Ave, and @martymann said yes. Is Summit Ave the old address?

Then @martymann said "It was delivered to the correct address on July 19th and held until July 25th and then returned."

Sounds like they went to the right address and got returned.

You say they went to the wrong address. Very confusing.

Marty was mistaken. He posted the address he mailed them to in another thread. It was the old address.

It's like having to buy Avengers 53 because that's where the story from X-Men 45 is continued instead of issue 46.

Box was still in good shape after it's travels. USPS did a good job routing this around.

Is there anything that needs to be verified?

He sent them to the wrong address, got them back. At least that is the plot of the story so far. Next step, retry.
