Seems like it's just the nature of a small industry A small group of people creating an industry then playing musical chairs within the industry while holding the keys to the castle to essentially keep others out or at least using your connections to discredit others It's all very incestuous BUT...on the bright side...CGC will have no blow back because of this despite being yet another example added to the pile of what appears to be a systematic (either through carelessness or malice) misplacement of trust the customer base lends to them so nothing will really change....long live CGC...sigh..... |

Seems strange that the crux of CGC's defense is that Matt Nelson doesn't speak for them and they should not be held liable for an employee's defamatory actions and in the midst of the trial, CGC proceeded to promote Matt to company President and Head grader. I've read the other chat boards from @Poka's link and I'm curious if Steve testified as an expert witness during the trial. I'm looking forward to a more thorough article in the future. |

We have a fun phase in our department at work. Stupid or Lying When something goes wrong with our own stuff or from other departments it boils down to - Stupid or Lying Stupid maybe you can forgive...as long as you don't make the same stupid mistake over and over i.e. X project went over budget were we stupid because we missed taking something into consideration? Or were we lying because someone damned well knew the real bottle neck was something else? Lets play a game shall we??? Newton Rings aren't a problem - Stupid or Lying Creep Engine doesn't exist - Stupid or Lying 9.9 and 10.0 pre-grades aren't just a gimmick - Stupid or Lying We have multiple eyes grade and review books - Stupid or Lying Our cases are tamper evident - Stupid or Lying Don't know about you but I come up with Lying over and over Feel free to add your own!!! |

Aaaaaannnnd...I just got banned from the CGC boards for a week, for sharing the article. They left up my thread (for now) in the Restoration & Grading Forum, where I posted about the different leaf casting and color touch techniques, but didn't mention the lawsuit, or the names of who did the work. The name "Myers" has been added to their profanity filter. I guess they have 10,000,000 reasons to be upset. |

I know there are some dealers, who are also long-time boardies, mentioned in the lawsuit, because they carried the water for CGC, pushing their narrative. I wonder what they're thinking at the moment? |

[lol...should be the home page banner for CBCS...maybe make banners to put up at conventions where CGC is present...like..hey CGC actively under graded and tried to shut down a restoration service..if you want unbiased grades use CBCS! Every time I'm at a convention or comic book shop, I always ask if they have any CBCS slabs. Most dealers/owners tell me they don't have any here or they only have CGC slabs. I also tell them I'm not a CGC fan and why. They listen but mostly don't care. |

@Rafel Cbcs still doesn't have memberships and their customer service is also unresponsive. I don't know about dealer discounts either. It seems as if they don't want to gain any more business. This still pops up on the homepage of a reputable comic presser. Cbcs has plenty of their own problems that we tend to overlook because of how awful CGC is. |

I've seen CGC slabs, wondered why high grades on books with visible errors, all the controversy and now this lawsuit. How do they stay in business. |

Quote:Originally Posted by KatKomics I think you are on to something, and the wording should be magnanimous. The message should be for everyone and should mention the lawsuit and how CGC's actions were stifling to restoration innovation and best practices. It should end with CBCS offering to re-evaluate and regrade books from that restoration company at no charge. Contrasting CBCS as an ally and asset to the industry, as opposed to the self-serving actions of CGC. If they did this, they should also consider reaching out to the restoration company and let them know so they can tell their customers. Maybe even offer to put the name of the company on the label in the restoration details, since this is a unique situation. |
