If PSA takes this serious (and there's no reason to think they won't) then I'm all for legitimate and well intentioned competition. Let's see what they bring to the table.

Im all for competition as well.

The one image of PSA’s slab I found, leaves a lot to be desired from a visual standpoint.

Who do they have for graders and finalizers? What comic book industry experience do they have?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Maybe Borock can get a job there. Other than PGX, that's about the only place he hasn't worked.

They are taking their ugly card labels and putting them in comic slabs:

And everyone used to complain about CBCS labels. 😂

One thing is for sure. That label will definitely keep the focus on the book inside the slab.

Their labels aren't too bad. I do like the grade on the right hand side.

I'm sure it's only a placeholder for something less awful.

I do hope this motivates CBCS to get off their asses and introduce memberships and reasonable shipping charges again.

@flanders I don't think it's a place holder. This is direct from PSA:

They're probably the biggest name in card grading with Beckett close behind.

PSA is legit in cards for sure....hopefully they will be in comics too but those labels are not pretty.....the cases seem ok just based on the pics above.

@Belarak looks like the ambulance of comic grading. Do they really need PSA PSA PSA and a PSA sticker on the back? I'm surprised they don't have ASP written on the front in case you need to see them coming in the rearview mirror.

Edit: I missed the PSA in the QR code, that's 5 PSA's!

Also, what's up with the Hulk #181 Newsstand? As far as I know this doesn't exist. A half assed job all around from PSA is not a good look for the future.

I might have seen card they have done on ebay or Facebook marketplace. I know they're big for Pokémon cards.

Technically speaking, aren't most comics from the 1970s and earlier all newsstand?

@ComicNinja0215 PSA has been around a very long time. Like CGC they were bought out and the new company is expanding their business model. They are probably the gold standard in Pokemon cards. I have a bunch of sports and non-sports cards that I always use Beckett for grading. Their labels look better and they offer sub-grades, they grade the corners, the surface, the centering and the edges. It's to show how they arrived at their grade. Kind of a graders note.

@flanders They don't want you to confuse them with anyone else. 🤣

It looks like the area around the book itself is frosted. I wonder if that has anything to do with their "Superior" tamper-resistant cases?

I don't think it's even technically speaking....in 1974 all comics were newstand as far as I know.

The PSA cases look wider....or the comic inside is narrower.
