Famous Dave’s Devils Spit is a staple here but only for me on the side. Pretty much no one I know (except me, I’ve done it) wants their ribs or PP soaking in it.

I can do a healthy amount of Devils Spit, but like you, nobody else in my family will eat it, I used to get Famous Daves Texas Pit Sauce, but sadly none of the stores around here carry it anymore.

Gardening Update: Taking it up a notch to protect our garden this year. Tired of losing all the crop to squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, and other pests.

They seem to leave the basil and parsley alone.

Have been getting several green beans every week, cukes are starting to grow, and we have finally picked a zucchini. Eggplant are flowering, so hopefully we’ll get something.

Once upon a time, one of the cats caught a chipmunk. It left its head, feet, and tail but ate the rest.

I took the head and placed it on a little chipmunk sized pike in the yard as a warning for all the other chipmunks to stay away.

It seemed to do the trick.

Years back when we grew strawberries @esaravo, I had to go so far as to bird net those. Otherwise a 3 foot fence does ok for us.

My dad battles chipmunks and red squirrels at his place. Him and his buddy battled on how many they could trap. Last time I was at his house a red squirrel kept running by his patio door looking in. I busted my dads chops about the vermin owning him knowing he’ll get his traps back out.

The only problem we usually have to deal with is groundhogs, they seem to like cantaloupe about the day before they are ready to pick. However, a cooler of beer, and a 223 with a night scope has become a very good vermin deterrent. Works well with foxes that are killing chickens as well.

I’m city folk still so back in the day pre fenced off raised bed I was a .22lr guy. I always used the Remington CBee’s because they are really quiet. I wonder if they even make em still.

We got 7 more jars of pickles today after 8 last weekend. I left the phone number clearly visible so you guys can prank my old work.

Phone number won’t last forever. I should delete it. But just one “is your refrigerator running” would make it worth it.

I can still see their website address. I know your home address so I'm going to pretend to be the neighbor across the street from you and ask them to come out for an estimate. Do Ohioians have an accent? My socal accent might give me away.

We got these shrooms at the farmer market. Three variety off oyster shrooms. We ate the pink one last night and tonight we are having pasta with the blue and phoenix oyster mushrooms.

That horizontal fence I rigged is paying off. We don’t have any ripe tomatoes but 3 of them are growing thru. The problem is cukes are overtaking it. Someone will appreciate me saying they’ll be dead soon. This thing is eye level.

Here’s a hidden one.

I’m already germinating bean seeds. These things are stunting my tomatoes at this point.
