Robbery at Tates Comics Lauderhill Florida20906

Feel free to use my post as a checklist. multi007 private msg quote post Address this user
"Longtime store employee Donna Macfarlane said Amazing Spider-Man #1, Incredible Hulk #1, and X-Men #1 were swiped from behind glass casing during business hours at Tate’s Comics at 4566 N. University Dr.

“They picked the lock because we keep them behind a glass case during our open hours, and they were smuggled out,” Macfarlane told Tamarac Talk."

Thieves should be repeatedly kicked in the nuts by pro soccer players and NFL punters.

.....these particular theives should also have pro hockey players take slap shots at them for stealing PGX books.

The PGX slabbed keys always add a bit of skepticism to my thoughts. If the store gets CGC-based FMV from the insurance company, they will come out well ahead.

Most definitely. It really is a curious decision to have those caliber of keys graded by PGX. Is it possible to own books of that stature....know about third party grading....and still choose PGX?

Maybe PGX's negative reputation is really only known amongst "hardcore" collectors or they don't care about PGX's reputation....its weird for sure.

My opinion, for what it's worth, they probably bought them from a customer who walked in the store.

I'm sure that's the case....I'd bet a dealer wouldn't willingly grade books like that with PGX....they'd have to know they wouldn't sell as fast and for as much as CBCS and ofcourse CGC...but the question is why would the original owners of these books grade them at PGX?

Curious where this lock was located, and what type. What can we learn from this?

My 10 year old can pick a basic lock.

Perhaps the thief is merely a Good Samaritan and is going to have the books properly grade by CBCS and return them…

reminds me of the story I think from last year where someone's keys were stolen from their booth at a con. a lot of questions like...why have them easily stolen?

If I had those books sitting around in PGX holders, I'd hope someone would steal them as well.

@Bronte they've been known to have a nice selection of keys. Tate is well-known in Broward.

My immediate thought was it’s odd to market books like those without re-grading them first… very odd decision.

My second thought was perhaps it is a theft deterrent device. Apparently didn’t work.

Come on Guys. I love.comics I don't love that people often call comic collectors geeks but have to be honest. I open this thread and my heart went out to the victim. I am in canada so I.dont know the business but I just imagine in my mind a comic shop like most comic shops, a small family run business amd they just became victims of a theft with a retail value over possibly more than 100k (depending on grade) and most of the comments are just silly stupid and insensitive remarks about which grading company was chosen to grade the books.first of all that's not the point of the post and only a perfect example of a geek who didn't recieve his first BJ till he was about forty f.....scratch that he still hoping one day he will recieve a BJ. Only a geek of that caliber would focus on that detail. You guys think pgx sucks. I do too to be honest but when I buy a graded comic I really don't care who graded it.im sure there are websites with other geeks that love.pgx and hate cbcs and or cgc.the point of the post was to let other comic collectors with intelligent enough minds to remember the stolen books and maybe just maybe the victim will luck out and end up fi ding his books. But the amount of focus your small minded humor thst is only funny to geeks of the highest of caliber distract the next reader from the point of the post just makes this poor victim need more luck than it's possible to have for anything to work out for him.but I get it . Everybody likes to be admired for how cool they are and all these jokes about the victims books being graded by pgx makes you guys all seem so cool I bet even mick jagger is jealous of how cool you guys are. Man I wish I was cool enough to be that good at bashing pgx. Sex, drugs, and CBCS/CGC for ever! Rock n Roll and PGX is for losers. The only thing that is less cool then that is getting a BJ from a super model. Shit only a loser would accept an offer like that!
