| For us, the gains outweighed the losses (barely), but this has been the normal of late as prices continue to "fall like rocks" as somebody said elsewhere. I must admit though that being a DFW local, and having no shipping charges to/from CBCS and MCS, is the only reason that happened. Otherwise, with the lot we had, it would not have been pretty. | ||

| ok time for status for me. on the first day I managed to get this book after a bidding war. It is for my PC and an upgrade from my existing 3.0. I now have 2 copies (CGC 2.5 and CBCS 3.0 with Stan Lee sig) for sale if anyone interested (payment plan available)  on 2nd to 5th day I bid early $15 on all comics which had yet to receive a higher bid. I wanted to make sure that I did what I could for sellers to at least get that. I ended up with 395 slabs (believe mostly if not all from @Scifinator ) where I did not get overbid as follows: Bronze: 6 1980-2010 A-M: 151 1980-2010 N-Z: 205 2011-current: 34 All these will be put up for sale again. I might make a small profit from these although it might take some time Finally yesterday I saw that a key for today was at a "low" price so I put in a bid - and I won this book at a steal. I kinda feel bad for the seller  |

| Great Job @Scifinator proposing the idea and getting it to completion. Great Job @poka putting a backstop to books that had few other bidders. I truly hope it works out to your benefit. The next step is for CBCS to build on this foundation. I would suggest approaching MCS and asking, "what can we offer going forward that would be helpful to you?" If they don't come up with anything, one idea I would propose to keep the relationship moving forward with MCS is "give us your oldest inventory potentially worth over $100 and let us press/slab it for you on consignment. You don't pay until it sells, let's test that model with 50-100 books". |

| Thank you to everyone who participated on both sides. Sincerely, thank you. Now that we are on the backside of this, here are some of my thoughts. 1) Big shout out to Conan @MyComicShop. I think his willingness to do this and his efforts made it worth while. 2) Thankful that there were several Facebook groups, that do not allow for outside links and in some cases, sales posts, who allowed for this event to be broadcast in the build up. How many submissions to CBCS or new consigners to MCS did this create? I don’t know. I have asked Conan, and he said he’d have to check their analytics. I will also be asking CBCS to see if they noticed an uptick in march-may. I suspect so. 3) If the rolls were reversed, I would have done the exact same this as Poka. I would have taken the opportunity to place hundreds of bids on comics at a slightly lower that certification cost and immediately placed them into fixed price consignment near normal market. I have actually done that many times before. For this auction, that wasn’t my goal and i had a different set of goals. 4) Some of you know my background story and why I encased my entire collection. Not gonna recapitulate it here. My goals for recommending this event were: —-Use the 10 Year Anniversary to elevate CBCS sanding in the community —-Create an event that I could hopefully fast forward to of my personal goals: A) efficiently draw down 500-1,500 more of my comics - Success 1,352 of the 2,602 listings were Scifinator consignment . I had a base target in mind for net proceeds, and it looks like that will be exceeded by about 10-15%. Pleased! B) fill holes and/or upgrade my ppersonal Force Ghost collect - Fail. Only 1 comic was listed that would have been an upgrade SS 14. It was not a strong upgrade, and I could not bring myself to a point where I would have won at the level it sold for. There would have been about a hundred comics that I wanted and only 1 was listed. An, a mid-grade at that. I would have bid up to or beyond market value on any of my targets in high grade CBCS encasements. So this is a disappointment for me. 5) I am pleased that Steve Ricketts took my suggestion and involved President Bill Sutherland who ultimately embraced this idea, and worked with Conan to make it happen. Unfortunately, I must say that I am disappointed. I think that the CBCS marketing team really left a lot on the field. Why did the not take the opportunity to have some type of open house event which could have been simultaneously published and heralded to further bring attention to their product? Can’t say there was not enough time as this was in the works last year, and I proffered the suggestion first back in 2022 or early 2023. They could have had any number of dignitaries, creators, talent, co-brand opportunities. Nope, barely a word out there. This disappointment is not about how much I could have made. I exceeded my base target. This is about a missed opportunity , imo, to further elevate CBCS standing in our hobby’s community. FAIL. 6) Why has there been no CBCS 10th Anniversary Celebration 10% off entire invoice (excluding shipping) promo? Is there a better way to get your submissions to include multiple services? Grading, pressing, VSP, Digital Image, Expedited Service, Re-Holder, etc. All on one invoice. Maybe even tie in a 10 comic, 10 Magazine, 10 Artwork minimum to get the 10yr Anniversary promo. Who knows, maybe CBCS was holding this until after completion of the Celebration Auction. One can hope. |

| I ended up with a couple books for essentially the slab cost. One was a 9.6 copy of Star Wars 31, which was the first Star Wars comic I ever got (way back in the mists of time). Still have my first one, but it will be nice to have a displayable copy. Pre-rivets label, too. | ||
