I hope CBCS is promoting the heck out of the MCS Anniversary Auction20855

Masculinity takes a holiday. EbayMafia private msg quote post Address this user
I'm not on much social media, so I don't know what kind of promotion is going on there. A little worried that I haven't seen emails from CBCS promoting the auction though. It's a good opportunity to associate the CBCS brand with one of the largest and most reputable dealers in the world. But it could turn negative if the auctions don't fetch some decent prices. Might I suggest putting out a link like the one below to the auction and starting on the "Featured Items" page? As well as someone follow-up emails throughout the auction's duration, with images of some key MCS scans.

@EbayMafia @figment I received the MCS email yesterday that is promoting the auction. Watching about 10 books. But as you indicated, nothing from CBCS regarding this event. Slip Sliding Slackers...lol...

Fyi, the CBCS 10th Anniversary Sale has been covered by Scoop e-magazine. The latest blurb is...Scoop article Link

@KatKomics - I was hoping my 6.5 Gene Colon signed Iron Man #1 was going to be featured, but it is still in setup @MyComicShop But, let's face it, those other 10 Featured comics are pretty nice.

The 8 books that I moved over from BIN to auction have also not been added to the lineup yet. I assume they are still in setup as well.

There's a lot of good books in this auction.

The biggest drawback I can see as far as promotion issues is the lack of any threads on this auction on the CGC Forums as CGC does not allow posting of CBCS slabs.

Say what you want about CGC, but their forum has considerably more traffic than this forum.

The one thing CBCS could do to improve forum traffic is to establish an a traditional message board forum with subforums, and not just a one page bulletin board as this board currently stands and has been since it was created in 2016.

Even Ditch Farenheit's board has a traditional message board layout, and he created that board as a personal choice.

CBCS is a business, and the fact that CBCS still does not have a full message board, is certainly not helping CBCS's marketplace presence.

One of the highlights of this auction is a Phantom Lady #17 CBCS 4.5 - a huge Matt Baker book.

https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=61087174

The page quality designation being labeled as "PINK", was a poor choice.

Virtually all Fox books have a pink hue.

That doesn't mean that PQ designation should be labeled as pink, that's just borderline ridiculous and tells potential bidders virtually nothing about page quality.

Judging from the appearance of the FC and BC scans, I don't see edge oxidatoon on the covers so it's pretty safe to assume that the book would get a PQD from CGC at a minimum of "OFF-WHITE".

Hell, this may be an OW-WH or even a WP book, but it damn sure isn't "pink".

"Pink" says nothing about the health of the interior pages, which is the point of having PQD notated on a slabbed book to begin with.

I haven't looked up the graders notes on this book, IMO @Mycomicshop should add a link to the graders notes in this auction andtbh< @stevericketts and company should pull this book from the auction, re-grade it 1 day express on CBCS's dime and get it back to Mycomicshop ASAP, so it can be listed with a revised PQD that is not "PINK".

I am fairly sure that the pink PQD will dissuade some bidders.

@PolarisNuclearSS2020 - Ummmm, see this from page quality section of cgc website.

So, I would think the "Pink" would be highly desirable as it is equivalent to "White" designation.

@HAmistoso - Look at you trying to get people to pass on that comic so you can snipe it at a discount.

Pink and blue pages are awesome. That’s actually one of the coolest things I learned about when I got started. You can ALL pass on that one (I’ll take those scraps!).

Also, @EbayMafia I like that Weird Science & Weird Fantasy. I might have to keep my eye on those…

@HAmistoso - It is a bondage issue, so maybe the cover took a beating hence the bruise. 😁

I've got a Walking Dead #2 9.6 with them that I'm thinking about adding to the auction but there aren't any other 9.6s listed on the site right now either. Would putting it in the auction just be burning money? Especially up against so many other high dollar books?

@BrashLimburg - You might do just fine as there is a WD 6, 127, and several 192's in the auction. And there will be a likely be a larger set of eyes on this due to the promotion in Scoop, on this Forum, and in Facebook and Instagram. Don't know what other promos there might be.
