Even if it was that cover. I always thought the Green Goblin's head was too big.

Anybody have any idea how tariffs work for usa? I bought some items from China. Just got them. Do I need to pay later? They didn't collect at time of delivery.

Any tariffs should have been collected or paid prior to delivery. I would think that you are good to go. How would they collect it after delivery? States can't even manage collecting sales tax on items bought in other states and transported across state lines.

Yeah a buddy bought a couple of articles of clothing and recieved a tariff bill 3 weeks after the fact by FedEx. She called FedEx to verify it was legit. (I was told this after posting)

My thinking was same as yours though. How would you collect if the customer said no and already has tbe items?

In Canada we sometimes get fees after delivery....they'll just send you to collections to try and collect.

I thought tariffs had to be collected before the item could even be shipped.

@Bronte - When I purchased a few books from @polka a couple of months ago, he shipped the slabs from China. I was asked a bunch of questions by Customs through my email, and some fees were assessed. All that happened before I received the slabs. If the fees weren’t paid, I would not have received the books.

Question. I was just given a sword collection from a buddy. She has owned these for more than 30 years so she believes they aren't the temu garbage you see online.

My question is how do I get them appraised? I contacted heritage auctions in their Florida branch and they recommended a guy but he said he wasn't qualified.

If they are real I was thinking I might want them listed for insurance coverage.

So I would like to send a few CGC books to CBCS. Is there a charge to have CBCS crack the case? Is there a spot on the submission that I am just not seeing?
I just am not sure about cracking them open myself. I worry that I will be the person to damage my own books.

My worry is that any non-payment could then go against your credit rating..making life difficult for mortgage renewals and the like

No place on the submission but if I remember correctly it's a free thing they do....maybe $5 if it was for a signature event??

I've been getting these brown backing boards lately. Does anyone have any information on them? Are they acid free or are they any good to use???

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like someone was more than likely boarding comics as cheaply as possible, I would also agree that they are probably not acid free.

I tried to do a search for them but I couldn't find them on line. They have a kind of waxy coating to them also. I wasn't sure about them so I haven't been using them.

I could not find anything about these either, but I am curious to see what anyone finds out.

I think he is asking about the order of operations. Does the pressing service come before or after signature verification?

I had a book pressed and signature verified, but I don't remember which came first.

@DrWatson lol! Yes, of course!

I believe CBCS removed the Slab if Verification Fails option, meaning they will no longer slab the book if the signature fails...If this is (still) true, then they'd have to verify the signature first, then Press. There'd be no reason the Press the book if it fails Verification because it won't be slabbed.

Yes @DrWatson is correct. I received a notice that my books were moved to pressing. Yet no notice of verification. Just trying to figure it all out. 🤷‍♂️

I think they get pressed first, but I could be wrong. It seems as though every order I have sent in goes from receiving to pressing.

Hmm... Moderated again! figment private msg quote post Address this user
Our experience is Signature Verification books first go to state Imaging/SP where they sit for maybe 30 days. Then they go to Pressing afterward. It occurs to me that they might press the book anyway if you paid for it (even if verification fails) but would not then do encapsulation. Someone with knowledge of the inner workings of the line would have to say for sure.

I'm almost certain Signature Verification is done before Pressing...it wouldn't make sense for it to be done afterward.
