@HeinzDad I think Amazon has a more current edition hardcover for under $200.

When did the Copper Age of comic books end? I'm thinking right before all the sugarcoated, sparkly, tinfoil gimmick covers started popping up everywhere.

Xmen 1 1992 that's when we had to start dealing with a hundred variants.

If Superman flew so fast as to reverse the spin of the earth...would time actually go backward like in Superman the movie?? or would just unspeakably horrible, horrible things happen? i.e. oceans boil, mountains crumble, cats love dogs etc. etc.

You should have them package it with dry ice so you can microwave it and enjoy the meal as well.

Does anyone order their weekly reads from MCS? I just gave this week's books a try and it seems awfully convenient. That leads me to the second portion of this question. Can you have them pulled so maybe I could ship and pay every other week? I don't mind paying for shipping but every week just isn't necessary.

I do a good chunk of mine from MCS, it's SUPER convenient. You can set the shipping frequency for subscriptions to weekly/twice a month/once a month depending on your preferences. Pre-orders work the same way plus you get 35% off the price which doesn't hurt!

Not sure about the subscription service but in pre-orders you can also set shipment options to minimum items and/or minimum dollar spend on top of the shipping frequency like in the image attached.

EDIT: Forgot to add, you can also piggyback the shipment of items you purchase in the regular store (back issues etc.) onto your preorder shipments for 30-50 cents (at least that's the rate I've been getting).

I guess I could take it from there but since you were so helpful.....

Am I billed on the weekly pre order, or billed for both weeks with shipping once shipped if I decide to do, say, every other week?

Off the FAQ page it says "Subscription orders are charged one week before the current catalog deadline."

Pre-orders I know for sure are charged immediately though. You can pre-order stuff from the current month and the previous month's preview catalog too -- the December and November preview listings for February and January respectively are available right now.

Oh this is cool, I didn't know you could do variants with the subscriptions too!

"Can I choose my variant covers for titles I am subscribed to?

Yes, you can change your variant preferences for each title you are subscribed to and you will receive an email when selections are needed. If you do not make a selection by the catalog deadline we will pick a variant cover for you."

I’m going to have to spend some time messing with it this weekend. For now buying weekly will still be an upgrade.

@ATinyTurtle, have you just been lingering the boards for a year and not posting so much knowledge?

@HeinzDad LOL I'm real new compared to all the old timers so I do a lot more reading than talking is all.

Only got into comics two-ish years ago after my partner put me onto them -- grew up with manga/manhua so this is a whole new world for me.

Or maybe I've just been lurking, taking notes on the experiments...

@HeinzDad my LCS recently, 100% out of the blue, stopped getting new books. I switched to MCS and found the process kind of confusing. You have to make a preorder first and then you'll have access to a subscription page where you can set up a consistent pull list. Because of the gap in when comics are listed for sale (October previews were for books in December) and their publication date (the books available in December are 'published' in January), I'm not 100% sure what books I'll be getting or when. I emailed them to ask if I'll get issues that come out in the gap and they said yes but I can't say I'm confident, and I definitely missed issues from the week or two where my LCS stopped without telling us and I set up the MCS stuff.

My first subscription order is shipping next week and I'll have to keep an eye on things for a while to see what issues I miss in the transition. I would much rather get things in person but it'll also probably be fine in a month or two.

I've had all kinds of logistical dilemmas with the LCS's in town lately. I prefer to go in as well but for the time being it's going to be MCS.

I think for me, the best route will be to just order each week. That was super easy and fun. If I have a light week which doesn't warrant the shipping expense I think I'll just skip that week and add them the following week. I don't think they'll sell out of a rando weekly in a week.

Let me know how the rest of your experience goes. I ordered yesterday afternoon around 5 and I got a shipped email today. My reading pile sits when I'm reading trades so a week late isn't a thing for me. Im also anxious to see if they pack their floppy fodder as good as the rest of their books.

It's not overly important but I got my first week of comics from MCS and figured I'd share my experience since a few lads helped me out. I ordered the new releases last Wednesday evening and they arrived today. I paid 9 dollars shipping which came out to be around 1.20 a book. I can afford that when they all come bagged and boarded in the typical MCS packaging I can re use. I ordered today at 9 am to make sure they are only a week late and I received a shipped email by 3:30 pm. I never figured I could like MCS more than I already did but I was wrong.
