| I’ve been in Automotive to some degree. I worked for a large tire resaler the longest for about 15 years total. while in school, making it a career, back to school, career again. Currently and very recently I am in auto body/collision repair. | ||

| I work for a private university as an assistant director of Facilities. I like it, but sometimes it's super stressful. I am responsible for everything that is seen, the landscape, and the cleanliness (custodial) and a few minor things. In essence, if it looks great or not it's all my fault. Still like it though. | ||

| It's only work if you don't like it. I get paid to build custom Land Rover Defenders at Arkonik SVO in Charleston, SC. Before moving to Arkonik about 4 years ago, I spent 15 years at a small British specialist restoration shop. Here's our shop as of yesterday afternoon:  The majority of our work in the US facility is powertrain and chassis upgrades.   Engine choices include OE Land Rover drivetrains, multiple GM engine options, and our first all-electric vehicles should deliver this year. Although I am primarily involved in production, I also occasionally travel to customer locations for service calls and vehicle handovers. My path to administering this software went like this: I graduated college with a bachelor's degrees in Architecture. When I graduated (during the 1980s), the US economy was not doing well and, as a result, companies in the Houston area were not building. So, no one was hiring a newly-graduated Architectural student. I ended up landing a job as a piping designer simply because I had learned how to use CAD software in college. I thought a piping designer was a plumber but, actually, a piping designer designs piping in industrial plants. So I learned something about that industry. A few years later, I ended up taking a job as a user support specialist for those same piping designers. I helped them to use the CAD software (AutoCAD) that I had learned in college and, later, a 3d-modeling software named PDS. After I had done that for a few years, the company that produced PDS decided to develop an all-new 3d plant design software to replace PDS and I got hired by them to help build that. That software became Smart 3D and I've worked with it ever since then (over 23 years). The job can be frustrating and stressful if you let it be but I generally like the the work I do and the people I work with. The pays pretty good, too.  |
