I agree! I've stopped going to Big shows and now only go to smaller shows that cost $9 - $20 to get in.

I haven’t been to a convention since 2001, in San Diego. I don’t remember what it cost, and I have no desire to attend another. Too crowded for me, and it can get costly. 🤣🤣

@comicsforme The Bedrock mini-con? I had planned to go but I'm not sure if I'm going to make it this weekend. I'll hit their con in October, though. I haven't been to Comicpalooza since before the Covid shutdown. There just aren't many (any?) comic dealers there anymore. Prices are way too high for what I get out of that show. |

It's gotten pretty nuts. That Silver State Toy and Comic Con last weekend I went to in Vegas was $20 per ticket and it was nothing. Like 2 good vendors and that was it.

Planet Comicon Kansas City was $56 for Saturday in advance and $75 once the show started this year. Still the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen for one. The guest list was enormous. I remember when it was $10 in the early days (I’ve been to almost all of them). I do kind of miss those old comic-centric cons with a few creator guests and maybe one or two celebs. Big vendors like Harley Yee and Metropolis used to do booths back then. The celebrity guests are cool (I got to meet Henry Winkler this year) but they definitely contribute to crowds and cost. |

I'm done with the big cons. Too much crap, too few comics. Too much hype, too little substance.

I plan on going to Baltimore Comic Con on 9/20-22/24. $30 on Friday, $40 on Saturday, $35 on Sunday, and $75 for all 3 days. Maybe’s are: - Small Press Expo is 9/14-15/24. $20 on Saturday, $15 on Sunday, and $30 for both days. I still have a place in my heart for indies. - NY Comic Con is 10/17-20/24 but prices are “Coming Soon”. I go to some vendor only ones and that can be $5-10. |

Dealer table prices have also gone up astronomically !! Used to be $150 - $200 for a weekend. Now its that price for one day, smaller space, and some don't provide tables. Those cost extra!

I went to walker stalker in 2015 (the first year they started it) and Norman reedus charged $50 for autograph. Went back in 2017 he was charging $80 for autographs. Just last month at Atlanta con, he was charging $195 per autograph. Crazy. |

If I find a comic centric convention, I don't mind going. Sometimes I can find some deals. The bigger cons in the area seem to be more focused on pop culture, cosplay and toys. The bigger shows are where I've noticed higher prices ,(to cover the costs of being there perhaps). If I wanted to pay 30+% over fmv, I'd just buy from Chuck.

If you think the prices of the big show tix are big; wait til you get to the dealers. It's like 2020 prices that they STILL refuse to lower. I don't ever go to see the big dealers; never did and probably still never will. I'll go to the small shows with folks looking to dump |

I am setting up at this one next month. Marty does a great job promoting his shows. He gets these flyers up at every comic shop and other places all throughout MI. I feel that $10. admission is reasonable ![]() |

I’ve been hosting some comic book swap meets in an open room behind my local comic shop. It’s free to attend and free to set up at a table. Nothing but comic books. The next one is on April 27 from 4-7pm. It’s behind Austin Books and Comics in Austin Tx. Would love to see y’all if anyone is in the area. Each one has been a lot of fun so far. |

There's a local(ish) guy who runs a show every month or two near Philly. It's your bare-bones comics-only kind of show, $3 admission. The downside is that it's the same dealers with the same stuff every time. After I went a few times it was much less attractive. My friends run an annual free to attend and free to deal show. It's focused more on toys but some people have comics. I haven't found any outrageous deals so far but it has much more of that 'never know what you're gonna find' feel. |

Going to have a table at dawn of the collectors on April 13th in Saint Clair shores mi. Going to divide the table in half. The ungraded stuff hard covers trade paper back toys ECT Will have a suggested donation to benefit all about animals in warren. Might move some slabs to that half of the table depending on interest towards the last hour of the show. Still deciding what to bring slab wise for the other half of table. |
