I came across these two items coincidentally in the same day. I thought they dovetailed together interestingly:

Past:
"One study found that the reading scores of students in a New York City elementary school were significantly lower if their classrooms were situated close to elevated subway tracks on which trains rattled past every four to five minutes. When the researchers, armed with their findings, pressed NYC transit system officials and Board of Education members to install noise-dampening materials on the tracks and in the classrooms, students' scores jumped back up. Similar results have been found for children near airplane flight paths."

More notably, the teacher's Grindr alerts outnumbered all of them.

Should we call them Media Slabs? There are still non smartphone cell phones available. You can a flip or a Nokia brick style; I have no idea who uses them

@HAmistoso I'm just a lowly accountant in the wine industry but my company made sure that even we desk jockeys got our WSET level 2.
So that we could at least talk a little about wine varietal, region, characteristics etc. - comes in handy because as soon as people find out you work at a winery (even as an accountant) they start asking about good vintages etc. etc.

I think I remember reading that you were a sommelier - that's some impressive stuff and difficult testing!!!

I’m sitting here, re-bagging and boarding some older Swamp Thing books I picked up and saw this stamp on the back of a board.
I looked up the shop, and it’s gone as the owner has passed away, but wow! What a history.
Dave Sims worked here in the mid 70’s and this was one of the first comic shops in North America according to the Wikipedia details.
Sometimes it’s really amazing to think about where all the comics in my collection have traveled from.

Wow....what a memory blast....being from Toronto, I remember my buddy's dad driving my friend and I to this shop.....Being a teenager in the early-mid 80s was a special time for comic shops and comic conventions.

Because it's Earth Day. These are all from my personal collection and this is one of only a small handful of comics of which I bought multiple copies when released.
