I Quote:Originally Posted by GAC Interestingly, a CGC 7.5 IH181 recently sold for around $3.8k on Heritage. Many claim Heritage sales run high (separate discussion) but $3.8k to buyer there is ~$3,200 to seller… A trustworthy seller and buyer should be able to arrive at a deal -near- $3k for a 7.0 grade Ih181 (universal). At most I’d think $3,300 would get it done if market holds steady… |

Quote:Originally Posted by Davethebrave Your theory is sound and probably the reality but if I owned an IH 181 7.0 there is no way I would sell that book under 4K. I would hold that book until the market gets back to 7K where it belongs I get the Corona Spike but there's no way I would take a bath on a book like that especially if I bought between 2021 - 2023 |

Quote:Originally Posted by drmccoy74 Have you checked how many books are listed on MCS? I’m ignoring the bunch of single page listings on there lol. Combine with auctions every day of the week… The fall was predictable as it was one of the most overvalued books of the price spike / bubble in 2021/2022. It is simply too common. Likely many multiples of the graded population remain out there as raw copies. |

Btw, regardless of view of future price, the current market suggests a savvy seller should be open to negotiate around the above price points. They get more $ in their pocket…

Quote:Originally Posted by DavethebraveI agree with you. The market is what it is right now. What I'm saying is we probably both bought comics before, during and after the bubble. If you picked up a Strange Tales 110 during the bubble you probably would hold at current prices. It's a major key and will likely recover. I wouldn't take a bath on it unless I had no choice |

@Davethebrave I'm a collector still collecting so I'm speaking from that perspective. I still wouldn't take a 50% loss on a book because I bought at the wrong time. Just my opinion

Quote:Originally Posted by drmccoy74 I buy to hold - I don’t think I’ve ever sold a book… so agree with you there. My point is I don’t expect prices to return to peak levels (for a long time) for that particular book. So IF I were a seller, I’d consider selling outside an auction and negotiate a market price. Split the difference of what both parties “save”… People sell for many reasons. Sometimes with timing not completely in their control. At that point they are market takers and should maximize (reasonably) what they pocket. |

I have a 2.5 in my PC... wishing I'd sold it last year. But with prices dropping the way they are right now, I'm seeing it as an opportunity to get a higher grade to hold onto until values eventually recover. Of course I'm planning to sell my 2.5 at a lower price point than I'd like, in order to finance it.
