I think some boardies here liked the Elfquest comics.

I'm assuming this is the same property from Marvel but not 100% sure.

This is cool. It's been over thirty years since I've read this series of comics, and I think I have all of the originals. Now I'll have to dig them out and re-read them.

Oh man yeah I was a big fan. BIG fan. And spread it around, made a few non-comic people fans, too back in the day.

Fantagraphics was in my home city Albany and I knew all those guys and the Pini's did show up from time to time to sign things and smoke weed out back LOL.

They lived on a nice little farm-ish piece of land out near Poughkeepsie and were pretty cool.

It was a weird time to be an emerging adult and when I stumbled on them I was hooked pretty quickly on an emotional level that was alien at the time ...

But I'm hesitant now to get excited with the ways things are being Warped (no pun intended) and changed to fit the snowflake agendas ... I don't think I can take watching and being disappointed, it's almost easier to just NOT watch it.

If the Pini's are in charge I guess it won't get any more flakey than it was in print (I mean, they were hippies and crunched granola but that didn't color the story too much) but who knows how much say they've got?

I've got all the Warp run and some Marvel's (didn't like the small, add-ridden format much) and all the graphic novels ... maybe they'll get some value. They aren't very valuable, even though they'd probably all grade around a 9.6 or higher, I don't think the whole collection is super valuable.

Funny story - I was looking for a primary residence in 1996 in Poughkeepsie.
One of the 10 or so homes I was interested in I looked at and there was a box of comics on the floor in the basement.
I looked closer at the sheet of paper about the owners of the house selling, and lo and behold it was the Pini's!

I didn't end up purchasing that house.

I brought it up to them one day at a convention in the early 2000's and I don't know if they had a bad day or something but they just copped a real attitude with me. Antagonistic to say the least after complimenting them on Elfquest and how beautiful their home was. Strangest thing

Hey man that is a cool story!
I had an acquaintance in college (this would have been 83-87) who knew them and often would go hang w/ them & smoke weed and play guitar and he said Richard might have been bipolar due to the way his mood would change. In those days I don't think it was called bipolar i think he said Manic Depressive but whatever. It was surprising to me because I had always found them nice and forthcoming and Wendy was always polite and actually humble ... but there were always people around, social/professional settings.
