Amazing book!!!

From CGC CUSTOMER SERVICE:

"It looks like it was near the spine but I don't have anything more specific than that."
"I did check with our RESTORATION REMOVAL TEAM and they do think it is something that could
be removed if you wanted to send it in for that service."

Hi @Wade_Story. Does/will CBCS grade sketch cards? Technically, can Original Art (OA) offering be used?
Especially that they are licensed product from Topps/Upper Deck?

Marty- Don't pay them! I can remove the CT or prove that they are wrong. It will cost money for re-grading and postage, but you don't have to pay me. They will charge quite a bit. I will get a discount of 15% for the grading fees. Always happy to help a true collector/hobbyist! Especially you, my friend!

@JazzyJeffie As they are cards, this would need to go through Beckett Grading Services for grading and not CBCS.

Wade_Story: Thanks for replying. Sorry, but I haven't checked the Forum for about a week.

Payment was given at TerrifiCon (clickable text, so that wasn't the issue. The reason there was a $13 credit was because I asked (and paid for) the PDF imaging, but CBCS only imaged one of the three books.

I'll consider resubmitting. I have one Silver Age DC book from Heritage Auctions I won that HA raw graded NM. I'm curious to see how HA's grading lines up with CBCS.

@Wade_Story Is not having sub-threads a software limitation or a choice made to keep it thread only?

It would be great to have a place to ask for grade opinions on raw comics but I can’t think of how to organize it presently.

@wade_story
It was great meeting you guys yesterday at the show in New Braunfels.
I feel very confident whenever I meet people from CBCS and get a chance to put a face to the company.
Thanks to you and Bryan (…or is it Brian???) for talking with me about the Liberty Comics book I dropped off. It’s a beautiful book, even if it had some sub-standard work done on it previous to me buying it. I’m excited to see what comes of it.
I was just reading through some of the questions in this thread and wanted to add some thoughts.
First, regarding the label swapping issue from the other guys, there is a board left in the center of books before they’re sealed in plastic right? What if a readable RFID strip, with the reference number on the label, were attached to this board? They are flat so they will not damage a page. They also could not be removed. This could be a game changer in the industry regarding confidence and security.
Finally, I would submit more books to CBCS for grading if I could drop them off instead of shipping them. It’s just a comfort thing for me.
I don’t think there are any places to regularly do this in Austin, where I live. Is there any incentive for LCS’s to become a hub where people can drop off books?

@Rush_is_a_band You can drop off or pick up in Plano. I know that's a bit of a drive from Austin (I'm in Houston) but if you're a "once in a while" submitter like I am that's an option.

There is a shop in Conroe, TX that takes grading submissions. They have a Facebook group.

The way I look at it personally is this- a 9.8 book is supposed to be in a condition similar to brand new/off the shelf. This is why there are no notes, the book should be in "new" condition. 9.9's & 10's are BETTER than new, being closer to perfect in every way.

Thanks for your reply, Wade. While your personal view is interesting it doesn't really address the issue. It may be "new" condition but if there are no flaws noted in the Grader Notes it should be assumed to be flawless. As I quoted in my original post CBCS will note ANY flaws.

CBCS website:

"Each book is checked to make sure they are complete, as each page is counted, checking for missing panels, coupons and pieces. The grader will then take notes of any defects that could affect the books grade or will note any defect that may be hidden or hard to see."

This internal process is clearly NOT the practice. The same with your competitors. The whole description indicates three, sometimes more, graders review a comic independently, yet no one makes a single note yet somehow they determine a book is 9.8,a grade that will have flaws.

Hi @Wade_Story , can I please get help for my cousin who hasn't gotten any response to CBCS his account & order issues?

They're quite simple (?) too, but there has been no response since December 18, 2023:
1st issue: Unable to login on his CBCS account, even 'Forgot Password' is not working (he can re-forward the error screenshot if necessary)
- On his 2 recent orders/submissions, he paid for Images on his graded books, but they're nowhere to be found on CBCS Grading Notes, and the books online Grading Notes are not even showing the actual grades.

He told me he's been following up every couple of days, but to no avail. If you'd like to work it out with him, please email his business email at pragmaticcardcollectors@gmail.com (obviously I cannot post his personal email here).

Thanks in advance for any empathy given.

@BrashLimburg That community engagement isn't engaging...
What say you @Wade_Story ??? What's shaking over there?
Any progress on any avenue?
How about a live grading once or twice a month with commentary and explanations of what the defects are and point deduction for those defects.
That would be educational for many collectors.
Explaining what foxing is and what it looks like. Color rub, color flecks, chipping etc..
It would be great to see you do a live grading and interact with the forum to answer questions as you grade.

@BrashLimburg I've continued to monitor posts and try to respond if there is anything I can provide clarity on. There have been NUMEROUS great suggestions, and please be assured we are taking everyone's feedback to heart. I am very thankful for the ideas from this community. We have a few projects in the works that I hope everyone will appreciate!

@Nearmint67 Live grading is tricky. It can be difficult to show specific defects on camera for photos, even with great lighting - let alone live video. That being said, I have made suggestions for some educational content, and I hope the idea will pick up steam soon. The approval process for new ideas tends to take some time.

Edit: After some pondering on how I could make this work for the forum, I think I have an idea. Stay tuned. May not be a video, but I can definitely make something work.

@SteveRicketts that's cool and all, but when I sent my order in it said 20 days and it actually took 30-something. CBCS can move the TAT up and then move it back down.
