I would say the book is over graded at a 9.4 but it's better than a 7.0.

Aside from
The faded cover it looks pretty solid to me for a silver age book. Is it possible the cover faded after encapsulation? Maybe it was left under display lights for long hours everyday?

Hard to judge by the crappy phone pictures. Actual scans would help. Corners seem pretty sharp to me.

I have not had good luck scanning slabbed books..
Also my scanner is not working at the moment..
I agree the corners appear sharp, and overall the book is flat, tight and square..
According to the grading guide, there should be no discoloration..

The book does look a little toasty, but otherwise appears to be in very nice shape. I do agree that 9.4 is optimistic given the degree of tanning. Perhaps 9.0 or possibly 9.2 would have been a bit more realistic.

If the book was re-holdered would it show up as Sep 2023?

@Briten Yes, as the certification number stays the same. It only changes with a regrade or CPR.

I thought the grading companies had flexibility with golden and silver age books. Some reason like dealing with the times of comics not being good for the youth, and not as popular of a hobby, or something.

There could be a slight grading "curve" based on Era, especially GA. But it has nothing to do with sensitive youth or the popularity of the hobby. It is in regard to the poorer paper stock, manufacturing shortcomings, and rough handling of the time periods.

I think I've seen enough books to determine the accuracy from CGC is
33% to low;
33% spot-on;
and 33% too high.

The remaining 1% is all the books that have been swapped in the cases

That looks exceptionally nice for a 7.5 but the cover style (art/colors) is one that makes flaws difficult to spot.

Biggest hints to my eyes (quick look) that it isn

Well, we'll find out in a couple months as it's on its way to CBCS for a press and accurate grade (and superior slab). If it comes back 7.5, then I'm good with it, but I'm convinced someone at CGC thought the cover was supposed to be white originally.
