I would say the book is over graded at a 9.4 but it's better than a 7.0.

Aside from The faded cover it looks pretty solid to me for a silver age book. Is it possible the cover faded after encapsulation? Maybe it was left under display lights for long hours everyday? |

Hard to judge by the crappy phone pictures. Actual scans would help. Corners seem pretty sharp to me.

The book does look a little toasty, but otherwise appears to be in very nice shape. I do agree that 9.4 is optimistic given the degree of tanning. Perhaps 9.0 or possibly 9.2 would have been a bit more realistic.

@Briten Yes, as the certification number stays the same. It only changes with a regrade or CPR.

I thought the grading companies had flexibility with golden and silver age books. Some reason like dealing with the times of comics not being good for the youth, and not as popular of a hobby, or something.

I think I've seen enough books to determine the accuracy from CGC is 33% to low; 33% spot-on; and 33% too high. The remaining 1% is all the books that have been swapped in the cases |

Well, we'll find out in a couple months as it's on its way to CBCS for a press and accurate grade (and superior slab). If it comes back 7.5, then I'm good with it, but I'm convinced someone at CGC thought the cover was supposed to be white originally.
