Customer Service Not Answering Phone or Emails20272

Collector peterparker private msg quote post Address this user
Anyone else having difficulty contacting customer service. No answer at 844 384 47777 during hours when they should be operating and taking into account Texas time. In fact, the line does not even ring-- tried two different phones. And there has been no response to an email I sent 2 weeks ago. This a damn disappointing. I wonder if this is reflective of their F BBB score?

Same here. I've not got a response even from email since before Thanksgiving. Before then it was usually next day.i don't know what happened.

@peterparker is this Jon? Welcome to the forum. I've had success reaching out to them on Facebook, typically respond fairly quickly.

Not sure. I emailed them a couple of weeks ago and got a response in just a couple of hours.

Initially I encountered the same problem (no answer during operating hours nor emails responded to). But when the automated phone scheduling became available, I went in person for my appointment to pick-up my slabbed/certified items. The attendant was very polite and efficient, and made the experience (the 4-hour drive from Houston to Plano and back) worth it especially with the peace-of-mind of securing & handling my own material and not depending on the expense nor the previous negative experiences from FedEx or the USPS.

@peterparker They might be closed for the holidays. Or short staffed while most are on vacation???
Maybe give them until next week and try again. And welcome to the forum over there Jeff...

Not an excuse, but trying to accomplish anything with anyone between Christmas and New Years is usually a giant black hole of suck.

My initial experience was in July thus year, & my last experience was in September after Labor Day. I'm currently waiting for some items supposedly to be ready this month. Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year; God Bless.

Definitely not an excuse; maybe if a competing 3rd party grading service were to enter the arena we may see some improvements? As a side note, when it comes to considering auction houses as an alternative to Ebay, Heritage Auctions is next door in Dallas and also does Comic Books & Sportcards, besides other collectibles like coins & currencies.

I usually just send an email and get one by the end of the day middle of the day usually. When I do call they call back. They usually don't pick up most of the time.

I emailed them a question last week from the website. Got a response in less than an hour. I am still new to all this, but give the email a try. Might work out great for you!

I think it depends on the books. If it's a legitimate concern, they seem to get back fairly quickly. If it's a question about books that are in the pipeline somewhere, I'm not sure there's much they can do...

My experience with CBCS customer service has been fantastic to date when I've had legitimate issues.

Still waiting for an answer myself, by email. I'm not in a hurry though, I just need to change my email address for the sites. Everything and everyone is slower this week, but I agree with others here. I'm old school...there's no excuse.

I have been bidding on Heritage for a couple of years. There's no doubt that they have good stuff comic-wise. And their site is powerful. I drool over many of the comics they offer. However I don't think I will continue using them since the shipping and handling charges are (IMHO) outrageous. I'm in Canada so FedEx also sticks their paws in the cookie jar.

I asked them to hold for combined shipping in the belief it would be cheaper. My last batch of books cost me over $800 CAD. They sent my 2 most recent wins (2 books slabbed) separately for some reason. $110 USD shipping. They pack everything well. I must have gotten 50 feet of bubble wrap.

If you're buying books worth 10's of thousand it is a small percntage of overall cost. But I'm not a high roller.

My gripe for the day. Happy holidays everyone.

@Caffeine_Kid Not to mention their 20% buyer's premium. Cha-ching!!

I've only bought from them once and the only time I would buy from them again would be for a book that is unique and impossible to find anywhere else. They do have many nice books, though.

I don't even check Heritage's web site... for anything. They are too expensive. I don't understand why sellers keep consigning when there are several other auction venues that can deliver amazing results and keep their hands out of the cookie jar.

@DrWatson I wonder whether many (most?) of their customers are dealers or wealthy people who have used HA for other types of non-comic auctions and use them to "gain exposure" to the "comic market."

Last week I filled out the CBCS form on the 'Ask Us Anything' right side button. I did not get a response, but when I checked my CBCS in progress order, the changes I requested were implemented.

Maybe try the website form too, as there's evidence for me that it worked.

@DWeeB1967 I'm sure it's possible. Heritage has always seemed shady to me, especially with their affiliation with the cgc companies and the ability to bid on their own auctions.

I don't know if anything "happened".
Poor customer service has been their reputation for years.

Seems a common solution is to go track them down on social media and ask questions publicly. Good luck.

It's 20% if your lot is $150 or more.Comics that are inexpensive get dinged much more than 20%. If you successfully bid on a lot under $100 you're paying 30% and up.Due to the minimum $29 buyer's fee.

They must have a lot of bidders with deep pockets. Comics go for eye‐popping amounts. Maybe that's the case for all comic auctions, but paying hundreds or thousands above what a reasonable person might think is FMV. I collect EC comics (as well as any Golden Age book that catch my eye) but you have to be prepared to pony up big bucks to get one midgrade or higher.
