Godzilla Minus One20215

We just got back from seeing it. I never expected I would see a Godzilla movie this good in my life. Easily the best movie of the year.

It's refreshing to see a movie that is so well written, enjoyable, and visually delightful. A needle in the haystack of the rapidly deteriorating "entertainment" industry.

This is what I've been hearing.....everyone loves it. I really like Godzilla but I'm not up on the monster universe. Is this movie in the franchise of the Godzilla vs. King Kong and Monarch and all that stuff or is this different from that?

@GAC No, this is a getting-on point. This is it's own entity and more of an origin story for Godzilla.

Thanks! I keep reading it's got 100% on rotten tomatoes....a huge accomplishment. A very very well received film. I'm really looking forward to watching this!!

It's totally awesome, my 18yo son and I liked it allot. it fits pretty well in the many Godzilla movies mythos, not quite an origin story, Godzilla appears and the movie progresses. As stated above, the human factor of each of the characters is totally cool!

I saw this today. Full disclosure: I wasn't even aware of this movie until @SteveRicketts started this thread (thanks, Steve).

I really liked it. As has already been said here it has well-written characters that the viewer can truly care about. And it is a tearjerker - something I never thought I'd say about a Godzilla movie.

I actually thought that some of the footage of Godzilla himself could have been improved (just a little). It just seemed to me like some of the scenes with him walking were kind of robotic and I didn't really care for the way his back plates would kind of pop out as he was prepping to use his atomic breath. These are very, very minor issues though, and your mileage may vary. The bottom line is that this was a very good movie. I'll definitely be buying this on disc the first chance I get.

I really liked it. I think when the next Godzilla vs Kong comes out, it's going to look like it was made by children in comparison.

Some things could have been improved certainly, but when I remember that the entire movie had a budget of only $15 million, and that the director/writer/visual effects supervisor were the same guy filling in all those roles, it feels even more impressive and I end up excusing pretty much any nitpick I might end up having.

Saw Godzilla Minus One yesterday.. it's unlike any Godzilla movie.. a true masterpiece.
I felt like I was there with the cast in Japan, 1940's. Score this move an A++

In the next few weeks, Toho is supposedly going to re-release it in Japanese theaters in black & white. If they release that version in the US, I might have to go see it again.
