I hate their new label!!20101

Collector Rafel private msg quote post Address this user
Does anybody else hate the new label as much as I do.

I just got back my last submission and and this new label sucks. The serial number is smaller, everything is smaller except the grade. Why can't they leave what works alone.

But you may be the earliest with the new label in hand, I think.

Because a lot of potential customers have stated that the only thing holding them back from using CBCS is a boring label and they're in business to make the most money possible.

Maybe they should ask what works for us before they pull that trigger.

That would be horrible business practices.
You don't market to those who already buy the product.

Should they make different label for everyone?

If the design of the label is what drives you to purchase or not purchase a certain book, then perhaps you need to find a different hobby as you are no longer collecting comic books.

I like the new label. No issues with it anymore.....even the arrow is fine...it's subtle. I still also like the previous label as well but CBCS responded to what the market was asking for. Not everyone will be pleased but the idea is to make more people happy with the label than not, and it appears they've succeeded. I'm mostly hearing positive reactions to the new label.

I was thinking of getting a few books reholdered from the 1st CBCS case to the new one with the new label.

One book is an expensive one. An Amazing Spiderman #4 in CBCS 9.0. When I entered it into the website the cost of the reholder was $12, return shipping of $25, but insurance of $240!! It came to $277 and thats with me dropping off at a show so I dont have to ship it to them.

I tried the same value reholder with CGC and it came to $55 for reholder and about $25 return shipping or about $80 in total.

How can this be? The insurance cost CBCS charges is crazy.

I will not be reholdering the book at this total cost and dont understand such a difference between the two companies.

I do like the new label but the cost to reholder this book is way too much.

Why not ask this forum and get feedback on new labels? Put the submissions up for a vote. Get the opinion of the fans who love CBCS. No brainer for me.

For purchases, if the book is already slabbed, the label would not be of much importance to me. Preferably any CBCS label, because it will be cheaper. 😉

But to send in a raw for slabbing, a lot of people may choose to skip the slab entirely if they don't think they will like the finished product, or if it ruins the uniformity of their collection. Many collectors have some form of OCD, and maybe don't want to spend more money to make themselves even crazier.

Not a problem I have, luckily. I tend to focus on the comic cover art, tuning everything else out. They can do whatever they want to with the label.

One thing I find easier with CGC labels is reading the certification number. When looking at online auctions, the CBCS number is muddy looking. Is that a 6 or a G??? It frequently takes several tries to decipher it, unless they put the number in the description. And the OP says they made it smaller? That will be even more of a pain.

because if it gets “lost” or damaged someone needs to pay for it.

I don’t see a reason to reholder any book other than a damaged case or nasty scratches that may deter potential buyers.

if the case is beat then what happened to the book inside?

The forum members represent a minuscule percentage of all CBCS clients, so even if everyone here all agreed on the same label, that result would not mean much. But, I can guarantee that most of us would not agree on labels therefore yielding a result less than useless.

Have you experienced how mycomicshop and comiclink does their shipping and insurance? mycomicshop is very reasonable. Comiclink charges double or more on shipping. Plus, mycomicshop will ship raw comic books, slabs and original art in one well packed box. Comiclink, ships raw comic books and slabs in one box and original art in a separate box while charging twice for shipping. Minimum is $20.00...EACH!!

I think they realize of the 25 or so active forum members, a 13 majority doesn't represent "the market".

And they've already got you.
You're not the demographic they're after.

@Sigur_Ros I agree.

Especially the roughly 25 active members (24 when I haven't made a post in a couple of weeks)

They are trying to get more customers to buy their products.
The trick is gaining new customers and not losing the customers they already have.

Or gain more then they lose.
