Off topic but I can’t begin to say how pissed I am at myself for missing out on an undervalued key in the MCS auction that closed yesterday.

I clicked another tab to do some quick research during the 3 minute countdown, than clicked back to the auction listing and saw “LAST CHANCE TO BID” so I frantically slammed 88 into my keyboard and than hit enter, the bid was around $45 at that time.

The reply I got was “AUCTION ENDED AT XX:XX.

I looked and saw my bid would have gone through if I placed it THREE SECONDS EARLIER.

The book closed under $50, there were no bids placed in the last hour or so before it closed 😂

I was so frustrated I closed out the auction listing tabs & didn’t bother with the rest of the auctions last night.

Ended up winning about $100 worth of books prior to that collosal screw up; all the wins are books that I could give or take.

Worst of all, I knew this book was in the auction for weeks.

Morale of the story is do your research at least the day before an auction ends and don’t F around on the final day of an auction.

Pi have never participated in any of the mcs auctions. How are the sakes? Do they typically fetch close to fmv? I might be interested in trying it out and sending some books to have auctioned

In my limited experience I've found them to be fairly close to FMV. As with all auctions things can be all over the place!!
I've had raw go for more than a higher graded slab in later auctions, books I had as BIN/OBO with no interest to go for just under or just over what my BIN/OBO prices were set at - other go for waaay more than I thought and others not as much - overall though they seemed to be in the ball park.

@Batman66 the Prime Auctions every 3 months draw a bigger audience. The weekly auctions are more for a quick sell and more likely to take a hit. The Prime Auction is going on now, I suggest you choose a sampling of 10 books to follow and see where they end up relative to your expectations. That should give you a pretty good idea. Maybe you could even follow some version of the books that you are thinking of selling.

Thank you. My move to Lake Las Vegas in Henderson NV has thrown me for a loop schedule wise. Now, I am going on my first vacation in 9 years.

@Batman66 - need to watch though - not all books are deemed eligible for a "Prime" auction

In my experience the inclusion bar for the Prime auction starts higher but gets lowered if there are still open spaces as the auction approaches.
