Beckett Opens Las Vegas office for submissions19827

I just received this email and thought I’d share. Services include Comic and Magazine grading (CBCS) which they supposedly process onsite. My guess that Processing means they pack them up and ship them to Texas and back but we’ll see. CBCS’ last remote office in Canada didn’t really pan out but I figure having one in the same country would be easier to manage.

Thank you sir. May I have another? Siggy private msg quote post Address this user
"Services available at our new office:

Comic Book & Magazine Grading"

If they grade there, that's a big plus for people on the West Coast. If they ship to Texas, it only makes sense if I'm in Las Vegas with my books, which I doubt would ever happen.

It says in the ad that submissions requiring encapsulation will be shipped weekly to Dallas.

Well, not sure if the ad above is accurate, but maybe it's because I was just looking to do a Re-Holder for a couple books. I live in Vegas, so I emailed customer service confirming I could drop off books at their Vegas location for a re-holder. This was their response:

"I have checked into the situation, and you can submit the books for a reholder at our Vegas office however the reholder will not be done there onsite. They will have to ship the order back to our office in Texas. Usually it takes a couple weeks longer to have orders completed that way so I would recommend shipping the order directly to us at our Texas location."

So I then asked if I could pick them up at the Vegas office to avoid shipping. They said "The order will be shipped straight from our office in Texas to your home."

I have 2 books I'd like to have put into the new cases, but doesn't make a ton of sense if I'm paying a bunch for shipping. So I guess I'm not really sure what the point of the Vegas office is, but like I said, maybe it's because I'm just doing a re-holder.

@lawguy1977 That is an unusual response but you ask a fair question though...being in Vegas you're saving one way shipping cost by bringing the books to them. If you don't mind the longer wait, I'd take it to the Vegas office. They said they'd take it even though they're advising you to ship it directly to Texas.

Makes sense. It takes longer because they are volume shipping out of Las Vegas. Since the return shipping is on you, they are shipped from Texas to your home. If they shipped back to Las Vegas for pick up, they would be responsible for the books until (if) the customer returned to pick them up.

Similar deal as when they had the Canadian office....will this one last as long?

@DrWatson Yeah, that's fair. The return shipping is $25.00, which is more than the re-holder costs for 2 books. Not blaming that on CBCS, it's just the reality we live in when it comes to shipping costs. I'll probably just wait until I have more books I'm looking to send in.

@lawguy1977 Do you not have access to a FedEx or UPS shipping account?

@DrWatson LOL, I do now. I didn't know that it reduced shipping that significantly by having an account. Thanks!!!
