Paul Reubens, ‘Pee-Wee’s Playhouse’ Creator and Star, Dies at 70 Sharon Knolle July 31, 2023 @ 10:05 AM Paul Reubens, the creator of “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse,” who starred in several projects as the goofy, child-like Pee-Wee Herman, has died at age 70, his estate said on Monday. “A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend,” said his estate in an Instagram post. The actor writes in a posthumous statement that he was privately battling cancer for six years |

| That's a shame. His Christmas special is an annual event at our house and we still love "Pee-Wee's Playhouse." "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" is a classic and I'm partial to "Mystery Men" although I think I'm in the minority on that one. RIP. |

| My wife and I just finished rewatching "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" for the umpteenth time. I know that not everyone got Pee Wee or appreciated the humor. For those of us that do... damn that movie is hilarious. |
