| I found a Kansas City recipe from Southern Living (very similar to Gates) and tweaked it a little. I halved the cayenne pepper, added a teaspoon of cumin, and two tablespoons of brown sugar. It's pretty good. It might taste even better after it sits a day. Ingredients (Recipe as printed before tweaking.) 2 cups ketchup ½ cup apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon) ¼ cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon celery seeds 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon garlic powder |

I like the original Bullseye BBQ sauce because it's cheap and sold at just about every grocery store. It's super thick and I can kick the heat way way up with habaneros or Carolina Reapers. I pull the label off so not accidentally used by anyone else. |
