That $72k looks mighty nice too - but then again, we're in a slump right now.

That would definitely command more than 150k today... Perhaps hit the 300k mark just because of the 9.9

Most definitely...these one-off, "unicorn" books (I'm not aware of any other 9.9 or higher IH181) are tough to price....could go for half a million if the buyer(s) really believe there is no higher grade out there....That Church copy of AC1 (it's raw to my knowledge)....my understanding is that if graded, it would be a 9.4 but very very possible a 9.6....that has to be the best example of that book on the planet.....that book could go for $20M maybe more.

Not equating IH181 to AC1. Just comparing the best copies of desirable books values can run amok.

$21k is already (and still) too much for that book.

That 9.9 has SCS and is now a 9.9 in label only. Probably more like a 9.8 at this point.

In 2020- early 2022, yeah.

Those highs were from the pandemic speculation market bump; virtually every key book sold for an average of 200% to 300% of 2019 records.

That will never happen again.

I know the market a wee bit. ;-)

No, not virtually every key was 2-3x 2019 max. Marvel keys, sure. Others, no.

As for happening again… my guess is new highs will be reached. For the super hype books it may take a while though.

@GAC it's possible, or maybe I'm confusing it with another 9.9 or 10 book.

I don't think it fell off. The_Watcher and I were talking about it, and we remember it as damage to the upper right front cover corner.

I agree. It is impressive that IH 181 has been reaching ridiculous prices on its own merit. No speculation involved just key facts. Yes Wolverine is in deadpool 3, but unrelated to the book and the market strapped a rocket to 181 and sent it to the stratosphere long before any Deadpool spec/rumors.

I still hope it crashes so I can one for a reasonable price someday.

I think it'll go on the low end of what a 9.8 has gone for in the last year and maybe be a new low. If you scroll down through the other Hulk 181's at the auction it appears the CBCS copy is faded. The colors don't look nearly as appealing.
