What Grinds Your Gears?!19739

If the viagra is working you should be well over a 9.8. xkonk private msg quote post Address this user
The correct answer is that it depends on the tier. The discount makes an express new book $10 more than standard, $8 for modern, $8 for vintage. I used the code on a premium book, which has no standard option.

Me: I'd like to return my Comcast cable boxes and keep the telephone service and the Internet.

Comcast: Why are you returning the cable boxes?

Me: The TV service costs too much.

Comcast: Mr. Watson, you do realize that your services are bundled and if you cancel one of them you will no longer receive the promotional rate.

Me: I'm paying $255 a month now. How could the rate be more expensive with less services?

Comcast: Please hold, Mr. Watson. Telephone and Internet would be $125 a month.

Me: That's $130 a month less even without the bundle.

Comcast: Yes, but you lose your package discount.

Me: Is that package discount $125 per month or more?

Comcast: No, Mr. Watson.

Me: Well, there yo go.

Comcast: So you don't want to bundle your services?

Me: No, and after this conversation, I'd disconnect more if I could.

Customer Service numbers that don’t tell you in advance that you will never actually speak to a human, no matter how many prompts you follow.

@EbayMafia I despise the ones that automatically disconnect you... for whatever reason. It's the same as having someone hang up on you. Nothing pisses me off faster than being hung up on mid-sentence.

That's one of my favorites as well. But I'd rather be disconnected in 5 minutes than spend 20 minutes responding to prompts before it dawns on me that I will need to self-disconnect because my call is not in regard to one of the prompts.

Sometimes you can get a real person by pressing zero. Sometimes you get immediately disconnected.

One of the Comcast technicians told me that if you put the phone on mute, where the system can't hear any noise at all, the system will eventually bump you over to a real person. I haven't tried it yet.

The other day I saw a label on Super Heroes Secret Wars Vol1, #1, that said, "Blue Galactus Variant". I wish people could understand this isn't a variant, it's the first print. There is an arse load. I bet it represents 95% of that book out there. The second print where Blue Galactus isn't blue anymore is far more rare. Take that variant and suck it!

Someone posts a picture of a book they own or just got back from grading that you are interested in. So you send them a PM politely asking them if they would be willing to sell or trade that book. The part that grinds my gears is when they do not even have the curtesy to respond to you with a “Sorry, it’s not for sale or trade.” That I could easily accept and understand. Instead, they just ignore you and don’t respond at all.

@HeinzDad agree. It's a printing error not a variant. It's a personal choice which version someone wants more and to me shouldn't add value or rarity because like you said the book is common.
Back to the Billy Ripkin card. The white out bottom bat version is supposedly the rarest but to me the original F@%# Face version is the classic and also pretty funny to me!

For a variant to be a true variant it must be intended by the publisher....is this a fairly accurate definition?

For me it’s the simple stuff. People not understanding the difference between a second print and a reprint. Most of them are so dense, that even a graded book with the label saying reprint will still call it a second.

Ebay sellers who overprice their books and then keep ending and relisting when clearly no one wants to buy at that price (or ever will).
Greedy sellers who grossly overprice their books.
Not showing the back cover on a vintage comic - include it when you list.

Sellers... who ruin a NM book by not packing properly.
... who list a book as NM, but have no idea what NM is.
... who take pics of a book at an angle so you can't tell if the wrap is aligned/even or not (this can be a red flag)
... who send offers with a note trying to pressure you to buy saying this is a limited time offer...

These crass practices are often clustered together.

Bad customer service or communication, laziness + incompetence in any realm grinds my gears.

That's brutal. Is it 3 hours each way or 3 hours total?
