What Grinds Your Gears?!19739

Odd numbers can grind my gears. Particularly when it's an odd number of socks coming out of the dryer. Have me searching for days.

A four issue limited series that somehow runs 80 issues grinds my gears. 80 is not the new 4.

What do you like?

Little bit of everything depending on the mood. Lately it's been a lot of Pink Floyd, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Ghost, and Danzig. Mostly 70s to early 2000s rock and metal is my thing, but I also have a fondness for country that sounds country and pop standards of Frank Sinatra.

@Studley_Dudley you're looking at it from a different perspective than those of us who were there at the time. At the time it was a good thing for those of us who bought the books off the rack. It was a sign of success and generated hope for the value of the books.

How recent was this?
Within a few months. The MSRP was right on there as well. Apparently it became a law in 2020 the msrp has to be on a new vehicle. Likely because of this.

Of course the F-150’s and Bronco’s didn’t have a market adjustment. Likely because they are sky high already. “Let’s turn the 30,000 dollar vehicle into a 40,000 dollar vehicle” was how it read to me.

If you’re still in the hunt check back in again in a month or two…

Sorry, my sarcasm wasn't apparent in typed form. I had read that the series was an unexpected success which is why is kept going and the tag on #80 was a meta joke about the run.

Ah, I didn't pick up the sarcasm, but I thought it was a curious comment from a collector of the series. It is pretty cool that they put the mini-series tag on the top for the final issue.

the problem is people are still buying vehicles and willing to pay the high prices. My manager traded in a 2019 f-250 platinum for a $90k king ranch f-150. If you are looking for a bronco there are aplenty used low miles in my area. I assume they couldn’t afford the monthly payments with all the BS add ons and interest to hike it. That or they already traded up for the 2023 model.

Obsessive Consumerism indulging in the “latest and greatest” grinds my gears.

The fact that I do not live in a reality where I can find a way to Gorilla Glue Mjolnir to a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier.

And any (non-comic book grading promoted) forums where it feels less about the fandom and more about self-entitlement, along with those who are willing to allow it for their own lazy reasons.

Yep, the covers are the same paper as the interior paper. And the strange thing is it's not all their books. There's always one or two books for the week from Marvel that are manufactured with a proper cover with a more sturdy cover.

That would be like me complaining about tampons and breast pumps.

Oh yeah, it's not the first time. Tends to happen once in a while whether it's auctions or buy it now from MCS. I would say it's only 1% of the time I get a deadbeat on MCS but it's 100% annoying when it happens.

It's shitty because it takes a month to figure out that you aren't going to get paid. Ties up the books in limbo for a month and the expected money from those sales often encourages new purchases in the meantime. And when it's the Prime auction, those only come around every 90 days. I feel you, in the last Prime auction I was sweating payment on 3 of my 8 sales, totaling over 60% of my total auction revenue. I got lucky this time and all 3 paid in the last 2 days before the deadline.
