@Flanders - It’s not that I have an obsession, it’s that I have obsessive compulsions.

That said, I made my feelings on this subject well known a year or two ago. Some of those feelings are:

1- i don’t collect/nor do i encase for the Label. I encase for protection a the comic.
2- I don’t want a label that detracts from the art of the cover.
3- my OCD side dictates uniformity. As such, if CBCS puts out a label that is noticeably different from what has been used for the past half decade, and does not offer a “Legacy Label” option, guess who will stop submitting?

Not a fan of the arrow, but I have so many different labels in my extremely small collection it doesn't bother me. As long as the case doesn't change; that and the more trustworthy grading are why I use CBCS.

It's literally paper, a template and a printer. Would have saved so much eye pain from Rivetgate.

I just wonder who keeps deciding that changing the label is going to be the thing that moves the needle? Label changes are kind of a big deal, they come with uncertain risk and beyond certain pushback (just look at this thread, which is mostly made up of supporters). I just don't see it as any kind of game-changer whatsoever. Nothing good will come from it, from a business perspective, only bad can come from it. It's another classic business mistake. The most important thing CGC has that CBCS does not, is disciples in high places...high profile customers who influence the industry as a whole. CBCS needs to quit wasting resources trying to woo the dude with 10 modern book submission or two signatures needing verification. They need to do whatever it takes to land some whales, clients that are big enough and high-profile enough to make a splash. That's how they can start approaching parity with CGC in market perception.

Agreed, easy enough to do and a good way for CBCS to actually know what label is most popular as well.

@EbayMafia - This is a corporate overlord thing. They want Beckett to be more pronounced. You are not seeing it on this iteration of the Label from the original post. But, I do not believe it is not driven from the CBCS crew, other than to say the CBCS crew is probably trying to satiate Corporate, CBCS label minimalists like myself, and the cgcist number centric gang all at the same time. Once we have new labels, then comes the affinity labels and ultimately in a few years a full rebrand Beckett Comic Book Certification Service.

Now for the disclaimer…views expressed by Scifinator are for hypothetical discussion purposes only and are not to be considered factual or based on any inside information.

@Scifinator It is indeed corporate driven. It is my understanding that we are fortunate that CBCS is still on the label as opposed to an all Beckett label.

If that was to happen, it would be Nerdageddon, with me included in the uprising.

Somebody could start a cottage industry by making custom labels you stick on the case, covering the stock ugly ones. Label remover extra.

I might as well be in the minority when it comes to this. And not just because I did some freelance writing for Beckett during their Dragon Ball Z publication days!

But in all cases, this gives me a 1984-1989 Marvel logo transitioning to the 1990 Marvel Comics logo vibe. As opposed to it being a CGC signature series being wedged into a CBCS universal collection.

So for me, I'm holding off on any submissions. But I can only hope is that the grades don't distract me from the comic book cover. Much less how it was encapsulated.

if this were to happen a full Beckett rebrand may be better. I feel the Beckett logo would be more attractive and be more competitive than a new brand or acronym like BCBCS or BCC. I think it would hurt to change the CBCS brand unless it were fully absorbed as Beckett.

I understand that. And I keep all of the signed books in a separate box (well boxes...lol..)
