I have sold $150 slabs at $175, and the only difference (that I can see) is the custom label. So in that regard, I LOVE them! Wish I could get every slab in a custom label and really clean up. But, no. There is a certain amount of demand for them, and NOT having the custom label available is causing me to lose potential profits. Me, CGC, CBCS, and the publishers. They just don't see it, and that's how it remains. |

I like anything that nets me more profit no matter how dumb it is. My personal thoughts don't matter in this hobby. Gave up having things make sense a long time ago |

I'm saying it's a free $5 (!!!) that is being left on the table, because some people are more than willing to pay it. They (some customers) are willing to give you (CGC, CBCS) free money, but you don't want to do it. It's UN-American to pass up the free money. |

I'm willing to bet that the cgc has an exclusivity agreement built into their contract with whomever is licensing the custom labels. They would be stupid to not have such an agreement. CBCS more than likely couldn't produce labels with the same characters even if they wanted to do so.

Especially when most (I assume) people probably aren't even interested. Marvel is out, so they'd have to pay Warner Bros tons of money to license DC and I doubt they can really afford it. Maybe IDW...or Caliber...or Aircel. Lol. In any case it's $5 I wouldn't spend. |

I personally think the new labels are an improvement (not perfect) and long overdue. There needs to be some cohesion/parody with CGC (whether you like them or not) so that the layperson can look at a wall of books and make a decision based on the book not the label. And since CBCS blew their chance at gaining market share during the pandemic, improving their product is their only option. I'm also a bit biased because, whether it was intentional or not, they took some cues from the labels I posted here (and sent them directly) a couple years ago. Never got a response... |

@esaravo I was a little surprised when he didn't do a video on the new label. He's been a fan of CBCS but since he became a full time seller he's gone strictly CGC. Good to see he's on the fence for selling right now. When you see YouTuber's like Swagglehaus using the recent sale of Batman #1 to say that CBCS still sells lower, you have to wonder what his motivation is. He compared old CGC prices to the recent CBCS sale. We all know that sales across the board are down so how can you use old data to compare to recent data. Like Minthunter talks about, let's look at the new data coming in to see if the market is heating up for CBCS. I've preferred CBCS since I started grading my books and at first I didn't like the new label. I have become a huge fan since seeing the new labels. They have taken the look of old CGC and CBCS labels and brought them into the 21st century. The holographic touches enhance to look on the front and top of the book. I do believe no matter how much better CBCS gets, there will always be people who prefer CGC. That's all they know and they're not willing to change. Most people in the hobby will use the statement, I don't know much about CBCS so I always use CGC. They will also not even consider CBCS because they don't like change. Or they think CGC doesn't grade as tough so they'll use CGC for the perceived chance at a higher grade thus a higher value. I might not always agree with the grade I get on CBCS labels but I know that their grading standards are always consistent. With CGC you might have a grader that grades tough like CBCS and then the next submission you get a gift grade. You always know what to expect from CBCS unlike CGC. |

Some of the cgc loyalty is down to the Registry. You can't put a CBCS slab in your cgc Registry slot.
