It counts for any generation of CBCS label.

@SteveRicketts - I still think books in the dreaded rivet label slab should be done for free. Rid the world of any remaining evidence that it ever even existed.

What’s more gruesome, the slab or the scene on this book’s cover?

I'm at a loss as to how anyone thought that was a good idea. I understand the thought behind it, but that is one instance were the idea was better than the execution. Personally, I'd like to know who green lit that project.

That is, by far, the worst label design ever.

I have a feeling it's the guy whose last name is oddly similar to the word rivets.

Opinions requested: Regarding reholdering: If you wanted to send in your slabbed books for reholdering, would the value of the book you wanted reholdered play a factor in whether you sent the book in or not? I don't mean from a resale value perspective...I mean from a "I'm afraid of losing my book in the mail" perspective. My most valuable book is in a slab that I would prefer to be in the new slab and label. Should I do it?

@GAC sometimes. I have a church book I want reholderdd but am so afraid of potential damage. It's in the 1st generation CGC slab and I feel long over due for a new holder.

I have an 8.0 bronze horror book in a cbcs slab that is one of my favorites from the era. It's an undergraded (imho) 8.0 Mark Jewelers book and considered cracking and resubbing, but not selling it, so I'm ok with 8.0, everyone whose seen it thinks it was undergraded so there's that.

I will reholder though with the label

@GAC I'm frugal so I'd probably print out my own design from home (possibly a ripoff of CBCS's) and place it over the current slab instead of having to worry about my prized book getting lost/stolen and having to pay extra.

I'm not sending anything in just for a new label. Money down the drain. If something is cracked, broken, or needs regrading... well, that's different. For a simple label switch, no, not even the rivets.

Any book I have that's worth over $1,000, and happily protected in its current slab, I would not disturb. But I don't really care about the label. I just look at the book and enjoy the artwork, or some nostalgic feeling it conveys. Then it's back in the box, sleep tight.

If you look at the book frequently, or you just can't stand its overall appearance in the slab, then you have a tough decision in front of you.

This is the only one I own, but I feel the FMV value should be higher due to the rarity of the label.

I wouldn't send comics in for reholder just to save $2 but I do like the new label and I have about 15 CBCS slabs with about half being the old holders that I hate.

My concern is total cost. Earlier this year I dropped off a slab for reholder at the Houston Comicpalooza (my first one). It ended up costing a total of $53 which I think is crazy considering the comic probably isn't worth $100. I just didn't like the old slab and thought I'd give it a whirl.

The $25 S&H is ridiculous. I just won 3 slabs off MCS auction and they charged $14.80 to ship all 3 and it's about the same distance to my house.

I also don't like how much the insurance is. Can it be waived? Anything to be done about shipping costs? I'm wondering if I made improper selections for each when I dropped it off.

I appreciate comments because I'm pretty inexperienced in this area.

@PhilCoulson - You can choose not to insure books being shipped back to you from CBCS. It’s an option, especially if you already have some type of collector’s insurance.

I don't know... I have 2 in rivets...and they can stay...but I think this red label should go?...could swear I had another red lable somewhere...but maybe this stays red as it is the higher of the two I have graded (other is 8.5 news stand no sigs) Neither was pressed...maybe a press and regrade on both?

But then the re-holder "savings" won't matter!! better wait for a pressing/grading promo!!!

I think don’t reholder is the best option. I thought about it will the price of older label slabs suddenly drop in price because of the new labels. The guy who spent 53 on a reholder did his slab suddenly increase. In value by 53 dollars. You know in the collecting world the more rare something is the more value it holds say there’s only 20 rivet counter slabs left of a certain comic only 20 people can own one. Or red labels only so many of them are out there if people reholder a bunch for the new label then less will exist meaning the price of them should increase it might be left with a one of a kind slab. I ain’t go reholder nothing to expensive to do so. I think people only want to reholder slabs so they aesthetically look uniform all together. But one needs to look at it as if I reholder this red label it’s not very unique any more. Uniqueness might bring in more it should bring in more money when it’s time to sell. Tell someone they can’t get that anymore there’s only 20 copy’s of it in the world that’s left of that kind do you want to be one of the people who have one of the 20 copy’s or the person who has I of the 4500 copy’s slabbed it’s something to think of before people go reholder there stuff all Willy nilly like l. I am hopeing the new label drives down the price of the old label so I can pick up some slabs cheaper lol.

Some people believe the first generation labels from the cgc (where you couldn't read shit without a magnifying glass) have magical powers, especially the red ones.

I have 1 of those red ones!! never knew it had magic!!!!

I think converting from CBCS Red Label to CBCS Yellow for verified would actually increase the value - red = bad!!!

The only way those older labels command more money is if the buyer believes the grading company graded more harshly back then and maybe book wasn't pressed, and intend to crack out to hopefully get a grade bump.

what if it’s already a 9.8 in an older case label just a example. It don’t even have to be 9.8 so you got two 7.5 same comic ones in a old case and label ones in a new case new label same comic so one comic is worth more because it’s newer case or is one comic worth less because of a old case. Or are both comics worth the same exact amount
