Took advantage of the holiday promo and finally have a copy signed by Alex Ross. (FYI, turnaround was super, super fast. Pressed AND graded within 30 days).

went to cal con this weekend and was able to do a cash/trade for this amazing historical book.cap 46, The holocaust cover. If you zoom in, you can see the Jews lined up in the concentration camp. This and my cap 37, the flag cover are two of my favorite Alex Schomburg covers. Just amazed these are in the pc.

@Lonestar- OK you embarassed me into spending more money (LOL). This just means that I can't buy another thing for at least 2 months. So here is my Ghost Rider number one that just came in today.

Just got this off eBay. This is now the oldest comic I own, very happy to have it in my collection! Looks to be around a 4.5-5.5 as far as grade goes. Hard to find good sales info but I think I got it for a decent price (195 USD)? I thought it was a decent price but anytime I'm the only bidder it makes me think maybe I paid too much.

@Silversorrow Great purchase!! I wouldn't worry at all about what you paid for it. Goldenage good girl covers are great finds and clearly this is a book that doesn't come up for sale all that often. Solid mid-grade too. I think you got a great deal! Congrats!

edit: count the pages when you get it and look for evidence of restoration.

Will you get is graded?

Yeah, I'm definitely going to get it graded. It will be in my next submission to CBCS whenever that is. I may be moving this summer so I don't want to send it out and try to change addresses while it's still at CBCS.

Pages are all there and I don't see any signs of restoration. The cover has about a 1 inch spine split at the top. It looks like it was only manufactured with 1 staple, and that is still holding on, but I'm thinking it's probably too fragile to get pressed as doing so probably has a chance at detaching the cover from that one staple. It's too bad because I was hoping that during the cleaning portion they might have been able to remove that penciled in "A" in the top left of the cover.

I just bought a small collection from a friend. All raw (till I submit a lot of books) but a ton of great stuff.

Single staple is common for the era...metal being diverted to the war effort. When you send it in to CBCS you can request a press screen where they can tell you if the book will benefit from a press or even if the book is stable enough to sustain one.

Congrats! Great book!

Just ask. The answer's either yes or no. He can't eat you.

There are some possible uncomfortable responses: "I wasn't planning on selling it, but since there is so much interest, I guess I would consider offers. What'd you have in mind big baller"

I don't think there's anything wrong with unsolicited purchase requests. We are all collectors...buyers of comics on a forum where people buy and sell comics. I will say though that if you solicit a purchase request you need to be prepared to pay close to FMV.
