Westerns thread19586

Collector PolarisNuclearSS2020 private msg quote post Address this user
Figured I would start a thread on westerns, to compliment the romance thread.

Post 'em up, pardner! 🤠

IMHO, Marvel and DC western keys have a lot of room for growth.

Basing this on the superhero film (with the additional streaming shows) craze has been going on since the early 2000's and it's likely a matter of time intil western characters are either integrated into the DCU and Marvel films universes or they get their own film treatments.

Billy The Kid came out on MGM this past year, for example. HBO's Westworld was received well, pop culture trends have a way of coming back around in time.

Same could be said for silver age DC war characters- Blackhawk is moving forward and Sgt Rock has been tossed around by in conceptual form by at least a couple movie writers but that's a corrolaly.

Well, here is one.of my more recent Timely western pickups.

Not a book you will see often...you get a no-prize if you can cite the key attributes of this book without looking it up

Just started recently buying westerns. They are more affordable pre code books. Cool covers and I still find them at thrift stores sometimes.

For a time Westerns were really my jam. I like the Charlton mostly, Rangers, Outlaws of West, and the other one, drawing a blank. A couple of the Marvel ones too. How about the Skywald ones lol. Its predominantly a Charlton thing for me.

Love the Biro Westerns, I still look for them in grade. The ends of the run I've never seen. I know my check list is behind a couple here.

I love westerns. I don't have any photos of books handy, but here's a page I picked up from Jimmy Palmiotti last year:

His inks over Federica Manfredi's pencils, from one of the 2006 Marvel western books.

It's funny, I like and randomly buy both western and war books, but I buy Marvel westerns and DC war comics. I don't have a single DC western, and I have only one issue of Sgt. Fury.

Some of my favorite books. These early 50's DC's are impossible in HG.
