So what are you reading now that is good enough to recommend to a (comic) friend? Something maybe 6 mos to a year old? I seem to keep missing the raft (The Boys, Stray Dogs, etc.). What do YOU think is a really well-done title that hasn't throttled up yet? Thanks. All opinions appreciated. |

Geiger. It’s well worth the read. Plus rumors of a show don’t hurt

I am enjoying "Grim" and "Harrower." The first issue of "Ghostlore" dropped last week, and it was interesting.

If your not tired of zombies, Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead. Totally fun, written by Bruce Cambell, and illustrated by one of my fav artists Eduardo Risso. A.X.E. Judgment Day was a fun read, I stuck to just the main issues, and seemed to work.

There's a fun title called Ripped that is only a few weeks away from launching the Kickstarter campaign for issue #2. There will be an option to pick up a copy of #1 as an add-on in the same campaign. You can sign up to be notified when the campaign launches here... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iicomics/ripped-2-potty-training?ref=discovery |

“Something is Killing the Children” is good. BRZRKR was a good 12 issues series. The Spawn spin-offs Gunslinger, Scorched, king spawn. They don’t tie in too far back with Spawn. Immortal Hulk (I bring that one up a lot, but it’s good) |

If you happen to like the Great British Baking Show (Bake Off), they just put out the second issue of a series called The Great British Bump-Off. It's a murder mystery set at something very like the GBBO. I'm enjoying it. If you like Wolverine, I think the current run has been solid. You could pick up at 26 (current issue is 33) and get the gist. |

"Something Wrong With Patrick Todd" is a great read. Ed Brisson, the writer, bases the story in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he lives (along with Steve McNiven and Jed MacKay who are all buddies)and is published by Aftershock. Unfortunately, the series is up in the air because the publisher has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. |

I agree with lots of the suggestions that were given like Immortal Hulk, Grim, Geiger, Sgt Rock vs the Army of the Dead. But the one comic series that always jumped to the first of my list whenever a new issue came out was Crossover, an Image title by Donny Cates. Was very fun and included a lot of different Image characters, some well known and some fairly abstract. unfortunately Donny Cates kind of fell off the face of the earth when it came to the series he was writing. So haven't had anything new in a while. But he at least did make it to the end of the story arc he was in before it stopped. Hoping now that he appears to have resurfaced and is doing some more public stuff like cons again that he jumps back in and gives us more. Cause it was such a fun and unique title.

Quote:Originally Posted by MurrayC AfterShock published some really good stuff, but so much of it was very niche. Combine that with the fact that all they did were limited series, it made it hard for readers to find new books if their local didn't promote them. I wonder if they would have done better publishing as trade paperbacks instead of floppies. |

In the Geiger-verse I recommend Junkyard Joe. I’ll also throw votes at the previously mentioned Grim and St. Rock vs TAOTD. Oh, and newer to the shelves….Phantom Road.

@Cerebus3000 I like new. I'll check it out...and the others listed. Big Evil Dead / BC fan, I don't know why this title isn't already on my pull list. Probably the Sgt Rock theme... |

@flanders my wife is enjoying it too, so at least it isn't just me. And I should've been a little more clear when I said "they" are putting out a book. It's by Dark Horse and doesn't have any involvement with the actual show that I know of.
