Quote:Originally Posted by theCapraAegagrus I thought EMAX was an IMAX visual alternative (Emagine) but with true Atmos for audio, while IMAX had an inferior audio solution but proprietary visual encoding. My home theater is 7.2 2 (Atmos) and I would definitely sacrifice visual over audio. I guess this means I prefer EMAX but don’t recall if I ever experienced it… |

Does anyone have a preference between MJR or Emagine? I will give 1 vote for Emagine. |

Quote:Originally Posted by BrianGreensnips I will never go back to MJR, not because of any poor experiences with the brand in particular, but the audiences they attract. They encourage people to be oblivious to those around them. Anyone who claps before the movie starts is not someone I want to be sitting around during a premiere. My first MJR experience made me loyal for a long time, too. Here's the story if you're interested: Both of my brothers and a friend were looking for The Dark Knight tickets at midnight during the night of release. AMC 30 was completely sold out (only 3 projectors), then we drove to 3 other theaters which were also sold out (again, limited projectors). In 2008, this was unprecedented in these areas. MJR was brand-new, so we went there to try it out. We had no problems getting tickets because the ticket table told us that they're simply opening empty theaters as capacity continued to be reached for the planned projectors. We were all kinda stunned that none of the other companies thought of this. I booked tickets only to that specific theater for almost the next decade. I also live within walking distance to an Emagine theater right now. |
