Got a stan lee signed book bought from his "stan lee collectibles" store. Although the signature and coa that came with it is genuine, i want it authenticated and protected for the future. This would be a great option to do.

This would be a big VSP savings with that coupon if anyone got it. 14 sigs with Stan Lee to get verified...

Sigs are "STAN LEE, PETER DAVID, DAN SLOTT, RACHELLE ROSENBERG, HUMBERTO RAMOS, VICTOR OLAZABA, EDGAR DELGADO, JOE CARAMANGA, WILL SLINEY, CHARLES SOULE, JOE MADUREIRA, GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI, DAVID BALDEON and RAMON PEREZ"

But i must admit, I'm so new to comics, I dont even know 10 of these guys...

It'd be a huge savings.
It'd still; however, be a huge hit to your personal savings with 14 VSP signatures.

I know there is that canned line "COAs mean nothing". Well - for me & many others outside the slab community, a Stan Lee Collectibles COA means "something".
It means a whole lot more than having nothing whatsoever; so I disagree with that canned line.
As for the remainder of the autographs, if someone out there is trying to forge "David Baldeon" or "Ramon Perez" signatures, well they need a new line of work.

Nice comic, but I personally would leave that as is and not get it slabbed.
If you ever decide to sell; retain the COA and I guarantee someone(s) would be interested.
I, for one, would be.

Its a shame the graders dont offer an option to put the coa that came with the book on the back of the slab. Im sure some wouldnt want it, but at least it kept the coa with the book. (its better than scotch taping the coa to the outside of the slab)

When the line is used, it's not referring to the feelings of the owner of the book, it's referring to it's value in determining legitimacy of the book.

As you know, they can be switched and/or faked. That's why they mean nothing to anyone other than the owner.

A while back, I was considering sending in a bunch of VSPs. I noticed that while you can opt out of grading if sig fails, you couldn't opt out of pressing if sig fails.
Is this still the case?

Yep - understood.

I will say that if I were interested in this book as a potential buyer. And I saw the COA with the title of the book "Amazing Spider-Man #1 - Newbury Comics Variant" my trust factor would be much higher than with absolutely nothing.

It can be switched. Yes, that is true. But I'm speaking likelihood percentages which to me is better with it.

So speaking for me, personally, I'd be inclined to purchase this book over another book with no provenance whatsoever. I know the risk; but I find the risk to be less; albeit nowhere near rock solid.

So for the VSP10 code, we'll put the code in the checkout and we'll get $10 off right there in the checkout. Do I leave a note in my package telling them "HERE'S VSP10, PLEASE USE IT FOR EVERY SIGNATURE I'M GETTING VERIFIED, THANKS!"?

That should cover me, correct?

Sometimes "canned" lines like "COA's mean nothing" are canned because they've almost become universal truths. Anyone willing to pay a premium price because a book comes with a COA that anyone with a printer 10 years old or newer can create...have at her. With a slabbed VSP book, we all know professionals looked at the signature and determined it to be real...is it a 100% certainty it's real?...nope....but it's a whole lot more certain than a COA of unknown origin......when trusting COA's implicitly, what was PT Barnums famous quote? Oh right....

Should. It's like with coupons and vouchers, they've never really made it simple to add to an order. You have to include handwritten notes and hope they understand.

Yea... cbcs vsp is top notch imo

With COAs - I do my homework. Don't buy at the premium price; but buy well under the premium price. Then take the whole package and send it out to CBCS for VSP. I'm not going to go into all the criteria involved with the homework but I have yet to be screwed with purchasing COA signed books that I later get VSP'ed. I tend to feel I know what I'm doing; I am a risk taker and it has made me money over the years. That's just my way and if it works and I've gotten it right every time over the years, then I'm going to continue purchasing low cost unverified signatures and getting them verified.

I count on others not purchasing these items because it means nothing to them. That's where I step in

If a book is signed and numbered (like 47/100) on the cover, does that reduce the grade? And would a numbered stamp inside the book that is tied to the COA number be a big hit?

I wish there was a reasonable answer to this.
McFarlane signed Spider-Man #1's with the spider web stamp on the back get deductions
Newsstand variant with a mfg. sticker over the direct logo get deducted.
Other stupid crap gets deducted placed by the manufacturer or distributor.
But acetate covers placed on by a store is ok (welp)

So despite a numbered book with a corresponding stamp on the inside being legit by the common hobbyist, these dopey slab companies take it upon themselves to be the all-knowing, ruler in chief and their way or the highway. And the best part? - it can and does change over time. How's that for a "standard".

I'd ask whichever slab company youre going with what their policy today is. Because they're the king; not us.

If a book is signed and numbered and the signature(s) pass verification then the numbering won’t hurt the grade and should be added to the label

Authenticity stickers do harm the grade, I believe but I am not sure how a stamp would be handled

Ok, so I am new sending anything in ( I did submit books at Galaxy Con in Richmond). Once I print out my invoice and include it with my books, write "Apply Discount to all" and that should be good enough?

Thanks

You might want to write the discount code on the invoice really big. Just in case

Might just send in a half dozen or so that could sell that I've found so far to then go to MCS and leave the PC books alone??

I submitted a Stan Lee book like this for the Slab Only option- nice for having the signature verified and not taking a hit on the grading from the sticker.

So I just completed two orders of 5 books each. On one, there was no discount applied (may have been user error) but the second one discounted each signature the way it should. I wrote apply VSP10 on the order form for the one without.

Should (or even can I) cancel the first order and redo it? Or will they apply the discount regardless?

Damn I hate being new...lol

@Retired_11B Read this. You are good. They wont actually charge you until they process your order and that is when they will update your price with the coupon discount. No need to redo the order.

Quite a savings for people with books signed by a lot of different people.

Just know that when you do the invoice the code will only apply $10 off on the book. It is a limitation on our backend system. We will honor the $10 off for every signature when the order is received.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I also emailed the company, they just told me to annotate it on my order form in the box. I do like it when companies are easy to work with.

@Nuffsaid111 Thanks! It’s hard to argue with that list. So sad that we’ve had so many amazing creators pass away in recent years

I might swap out the Garner book for the Punisher book signed by Dillon (RIP)
